Layla's POV

I stand outside of photography - my next lesson. I look around to see Jessica is still not here. I groan quietly as I roll my eyes. What could she be doing with Mr. Minter?!

I look over to see Mr. Barn - the headteacher and my photography teacher - walking towards me. "Layla, where's Jessica?" He asks politely. I shrug, "Last time I saw her, she went of somewhere with Mr. Minter, sir." I explain. "Ah, okay." He nods before walking towards the classroom door.

"Oh, sir!" I call out as I rush over to him. "Yes?" He asks as he opens the door, allowing everyone else to walk in. "Can I ask you something?" I ask. He nods, "Sure." He says, flashing me a smile. I wait until everyone's inside before closing the door, so they can barely hear us. "Is anything going on between Mr. Minter and Jessica?" I ask. "What makes you ask that?" He asks. "Because of the way they look at each other and how they always hang out." I explain. "Well, no, there isn't." He says with a straight face. I look into his eyes to see if he's lying or not; it's a trick my friend, Adam, taught me.

He's lying. I sigh in defeat. "Okay, I believe you." I say as I flash him a fake smile. He nods, "Now, time to learn something." He says as he opens the classroom door. I simply nod as we walk inside.

Why would the headteacher lie to me?! What's going on?

Jessica's POV

"Well, see you soon, love." Simon smiles down at me before engulfing me into a hug. "Mhm." I hum. "Do you want a lift home tonight?" He asks as we pull away. "Sure." I smile up at him. "Okay." He nods. "See you soon." I smile as I begin walking backwards towards the classroom. "See you soon." He waves at me. I smile as I turn around and walk properly towards the classroom.

I walk in and everyone looks up at me. "Sorry I'm late, sir." I apologize as I walk over to Mr. Barn. "It's okay." He smiles at me. I smile back before rushing towards my seat, next to Layla.

"What did he want?" She asks blankly. "Who, Mr. Minter?" I ask. "Mhm." She hums. "Turns out, I missed some of my work out, so I needed to finish it." I say, lying. "Oh." She says. Why won't she even look at me? "Layla, is everything okay?" I ask as she's acting odd. "I'm fine." She mutters. "Liar. What's wrong?" I ask in a worried tone. "I feel... Lied to." She says, taking a pause in the middle; like she didn't know what to say.

"And it's your fault." She says sternly as she finally turns to look at me...
