Meanwhile...
Layla's POV
I walk down the dark, empty street I'm familiar to, to get to Jessica's place. Why am I going there? Well, it's because I wanna see if her mother, Faye, knows who this 'Simon' guy is. It's bugging me. I've asked our other friends, James, Courtney, Adam and Tom, but they have never heard of a 'Simon' before. The only Simon they know is Mr. Minter. Surely, she can't be dating Mr. Minter. I mean, it's against the school rules, and it's fucking weird.
I snap out my trail of thoughts just as I arrive outside Jessica's home. I sigh as I walk up the drive, towards the front door. I look around first; as Jessica lives in a sketchy neighborhood. I then knock loudly, so that someone will definitely open up. Soon enough, Faye open the door.
"Layla, what are you doing here?" Faye asks. "We need to talk." I say. She open the door widely and allows me to walk in. We then walk into the lounge. "What's wrong?" She asks as we both sit down on the sofa. "It's about Jessica..." I begin. "What about her?" She asks. "Well, she has a boyfriend, called Simon, and well, me and her other mates have never heard of him before. I was wondering if you know who he is, or at least what he looks like." I explain. Faye sighs as she looks to the ground for a split second before looking back up at me. "All I know is, his name is Simon and he's in his early to mid twenties." Faye says. "Well, she told me that he goes to a different school." I mutter. "Have you spoken to her about it?" She asks. "Kinda. I've asked to meet him, and she kept saying that I can meet him when we graduate in a few weeks." I explain. "Well, at least you get to meet him." Faye smiles warmly at me. "Yeah, but I feel like she is hiding something from me. Something about him, and I wanna know why." I huff.
"Tell you what, she'll be coming tomorrow. I'll try and get her to get this 'Simon' to the door. Then, you can come round and I'll tell you what he looks like. How's that?" Faye suggests. I nod, "Okay." "There, sorted." She chuckles. I stand up and head to the front door. Faye follows behind. "Try and get a photo of him, if you can." I say as I step out the door. "Will do." She smiles warmly. I smile back. "See you tomorrow then." I say as I make my way down the drive. "See you tomorrow." Faye repeats, like a parrot before closing the door.
Once I'm back on the street, I quickly rush home, where it's safe.
