24: " You On My Mind "

Pharaoh Khai's P. O. V

These past five days have been the worst days of my life! I miss her so much. I have never been away from her unless it is a few rooms away. Zahraand Therois are giving me a hard time and Khenti is just neutral in the situation, I might just go crazy before I leave. I just want to hear her voice even it her arguing about a simple topic, I want to see her face when she smiles when I agree with her after a debate, I want her by my side right now so she knows that I am here when she has a bad dream. Not knowing what she is doing or who she is with, whether she is smiling or angry, safe or in danger, with company or alone. It just keeps me awake at night. If I do fall asleep, I would always wake up thinking she is beside only to see an empty space in place of her.

I was sitting in my room gazing in space when a knock on the door snapped me out of my trance.

"Come in, "I said blandly.

" Khai, "I heard Zahra's father call.

" Yes, "I replied.

" I will try to get them to understand. "

" Thank you and have decided to leave tomorrow. I hope that is understandable. "

" It has been so long since we have seen you, why not spend a little more time here. Things must be in good hands for you to stay just a little longer. "

" They are in great hands actually but I cannot do this to her. There is so much work to be done and I would like to go back so she can get some rest."

"Her? This 'her' is the girl you speak so fondly of I am suspecting. "

" Yes. "

" I see. She must be really special to you."

"She is more than special, "I replied. I honestly did not like this talk was going because I had no intention of debating my actions again. " I think I am going to get some sleep  , I need an early start tomorrow. "

" I will let you rest on my request, "Khenti said before leaving.

" Mother why are the Gods doing this to me?  What wrong did I ever do?  Did I upset them in anyway? I need to know! " Zahra yelled.

" Hush my dear Zahra.  You do not deserve this my sweet girl. I am sure something has altered your dear Khai's mind,"Therois said as she fixed Zahra's hair.

"He and his mind belongs to his Kiya now. The one he said the Gods chose for him. "

" Have you seen her? I thought it was something he made up the delay the marriage because of the death of his parents. "

" No mother, she is very much real. "

" Oh my child,  I can bet she is a witch, a worker of dark magic that she used to enchant your beloved Khai. "

" Dark magic? But their love looks so real and true. "

" This magic is powerful my dear daughter."

"I know she does not love him or care for him like I do and I will make sure that our true love prevails."

Kiya's P. O. V

Sixty seconds is one minute,  Sixty minutes is one hour. Five hours equals to three hundred minutes. Three hundred minutes equals to eighteen thousand seconds. More than three quarters of the time I should have spent on sleep went into watching clouds move and stars twinkle. I cannot even close my for a full five minutes. I want to sleep so much but it does not want to let me. Now is the time my brain chose to skim through life choices, remember mistakes, ask what is the meaning of life is... I was just processing so many wild thoughts. I guess that was my mind's cover for thinking about him. It has been five days and I have no idea what is going on for him. All I  know is that I have been work hard and late and closing my eyes at night has suddenly become impossible for me. I soon got bored because my thoughts were not occupying me as much anymore but I still could not sleep so I went out to find something to do.

The guards did not question me, there was no way I could leave this place. It was heavily secured inside and out so going outside was totally out of it. I continuously sighed as I dragging my feet through the hall like a lifeless zombie.

"My Queen, what are you doing here at this time? "

" Nathifa? What are you doing here at this time? "

" I asked first. "

" Sleep is not my friend anymore, "I groaned. " I have been up watch night turn into day for five days now! I need sleep. "

" Oooo someone is thinking about you!" Nathifa squealed.

"What do you mean?

"Come with me. I will make you some honey tea and explain."

"Lead the way. "

Nathifa handed me the steaming cup of tea and I listened to her explain what she said earlier.

" It is said that when you cannot sleep, someone is thinking about you and I just know that you are making that same person sleepless. "

" Who could be thinking about m... Oh. Really? I doubt that. "

" Your puffy eyes and five sleepless nights say otherwise. "

" He has Zahra and her family to deal with. I would be the last person on his mind. "

" Shame on you My Queen! You need to stop finding excuses and admit it.  It will make you feel lighter. Trust me it does. "

" I have nothing to admit. "

" Hmmm, well I am never wrong about these things. "

" Is that so? "I asked her.

" You will see that you can only hide feelings for so long then no more. "

" I will wait for the day Nathifa. "

Khai was packed up and ready to go. Zaire made the final check and Khenti was asking Khai to stay longer.

" A day more would not make a difference."

"I do apologize but I have made my decision, "Khai stressed.

Therois and Zahra were standing by the door just watching.

" Thank you for returning my dear daughter back to us safely, "Therois said and Khai nodded.

" I will be off then, "Khai said as he followed Zaire to the chariot.

" Khai dear, "Therois called out. " The sun is barely out. Just wait here a little."

"I thank you for letting me stay here for a few days but I have someone waiting for me back home. "

Khai jumped on the chariot and with the whip to the back of the horses they sped off in the direction of home.
