6: " Are You Afraid? "

She held her hand up hand and turned the ring on her finger feel the cold metal against her skin. Kiya remained silent before taking a quick glance at the Pharaoh's face. She cleared her throat placed her hands in her lap.

"Pharaoh - "Kiya started but was cut off.

" The name is Khai. "

" My apologies. Pharaoh Khai. I - " Kiya was interrupted again.

" Only Khai and there is no need to apologize. "

" I apologize Pha- I mean to say Khai, " Kiya stuttered a little.

" Apologize for apologizing, I have never heard of this before, " he smiled.

" Hmm, I guess I am the first to do such a thing." Kiya paused for a second and took a deep breath. "May I have your permission to ask a question?"

"You may ask, "he replied.

" What about the princess you were suppose to marry, was she and her parents informed... about... this. "

" Yes."

"Was it understood? "

" Not by two. "

" Meaning? "

" Her mother thinks that I am not serious in my words. "

" Oh, " Kiya said softly. " That is all. Thank you. "

" Hmm. Thank you."

"Thank you? What did I do?"

"What you did earlier."

"I am happy to know my outburst was appreciated ,"Kiya gave a small smile.
"I have a request."

"Tell me."

"Could someone guide me through the different rooms. As you see I get lost easily."

"You may."

"Thank you,"she gave a light bow. "I do that soon. My head still hurts a little. I will just rest a while."

"If you need anything, you can come to me,"he said and then left.

Kiya dabbed her cheeks with the back of her hands before laying down once more. After a few minuets of rest she got up .

"Rada, I need you here,"she called out.

"My Queen?" Rada replied.

"I was wondering if you could, with the others help me to get acquainted with the place."

"My honor my Queen,"Rada bowed.

Kiya smiled and got up following Rada to the doorway where she met Ladonna and Nathifa.

"We were asked to get our lady acquainted with the place,"Rada informed the two.

"Where would you like the start my lady?"Ladonna asked keep her light bow in place.

"I would like to start inside."

"Very well then. This way,"Ladonna lead Kiya down a wide hall.

"This first entrance on my left is where you meals are prepared,"Ladonna said.

"The best work here so that our Pharaoh and Queen can eat the best as they are more than worthy,"Rada added.

"The room right beside it is where the Pharaoh and you will eat along with other well know people as guest when elaborate gatherings are held," Nathifa pointed.

"Would you like to take a look inside?"Ladonna asked.

"I would."

The four entered , Kiya in front as the three stayed a fair distance behind her .

"Wow!" Kiya gasped as she looked around the room in awe. Though she expected nothing less than great for a Pharaoh, his palace was truly remarkable. " This is beautiful,"Kiya said as she ran her hand along the table that stretched from one side of the room that next in length and the width of two and a half regular sized rectangular tables.

"Shall we go ?"Rada asked.

They went through the the rest of the room until they were at the last one.

"This is the Pharaoh's private quarters when he is busy with matters of the kingdom and else where. Important meetings are kept in here also. One is not allowed to enter unless permission is given to them,"Nathifa said.

"Are you ready for the outside now my queen?" Ladonna asked.

"Yes I am. I would love to get some fresh air,"Kiya smiled. Once outside she headed for the garden she saw from the balcony when she first woke up. "Mmmm, this is so beautiful !" Kiya got into a jog as she visited every shrub and flower that caught her eye.

"I am guessing my Queen that you are happy?"Ladonna smiled.

"I am. It felt like forever since I have stepped outside."

"We should give you some time then, if you would like it that is," Nathifa faced Kiya.

"Thank you. I know my way back."

"Our pleasure," the three bowed before leaving.

Kiya walked through the maze of shrubs and came to a fountain in the middle.

"Just how I remembered. Such elaborate architecture,"she whispered to herself as she sat in the edge of the fountain and played around in the crystal water with her fingers. "If only I can remember her more. Her telling me about this ,"she sighed.

As Kiya was lost in her thoughts she did not hear the footsteps behind her. As she held up her head and saw a blurred figure in the water.

"Oh God!"She spun around with her had on her chest.

"I am sorry ,did I frighten you?"

"It's you. I'm sorry I did not see anyone around here that is all."

"I did not mean to."

"It is fine Pharaoh."

"You are doing it again."

"Hmmm. I did ,did I."

Pharaoh Khai sat beside her. He looked at her from her reflection on the water. She turned her head slightly to get a glance of him.

"I prefer Khai from you. Pharaoh is just something I don't want to hear from you."

Kiya faced him fully . "I did not know it bothered you so much."

"Are you ... Afraid of me?"Khai asked with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"I am not,"Kiya said as she faced him.

"Please don't lie to me...Kiya,"he said her name like a heavy load.

"I am not afraid of you Pharaoh."

Khai stood up and turned to her.

"If you are not , I need you to stand in front of me and look me in my eyes and say Khai I am not afraid of you!" He said slightly shouting.

Kiya got up and walked up to Khai until she could feel is the breath on her shoulder. She looked in his eyes .

"K...Khai... I am not... I am not... Khai I am not a..-" She turned her back to him before burying her face in her hands as the tears built up . " I really do not know how to process this, I do not know what exactly to feel . I seems as if this is the only emotion that is working at the moment. this is all so much for me,"she sobbed.

Khai turn her around as he hugged her.

"You don't have to be afraid... I promise. I spent all my years waiting for you. I just live to keep you happy. "
