45: " Preparations "

"Re is his name,"Kiya showed off her gift who sat like proud royalty on her shoulder.

"He is beautiful My Queen!"Nathifa beamed.

"Yes, he is truly something wonderful,"Ladonna added.

"I simply love the name,"Rada smiled.

"With a gift like Re, I truly have to wonder if what I am going to give him is enough,"Kiya sighed.

'Do not doubt My Queen. I can say that The Pharaoh will truly appreciate and lo what you have in store for him "Ladonna reassured.

"I really do hope so. If not, I would not deserve you ," Kiya looked at the unconcerned Re.

"No negative talk now. The Pharaoh's birthday is in two days and your gift My Queen will shock him and everyone in attendance,"Rada said try to lighten up her doubting Queen's mood.

" I guess I am just nervous,"Kiya chuckled. "Maybe I am just overthinking this entire thing."

" Not to worry my Queen, we shall get rid of that Nervousness,"Nathifa smiled.

"Princess Zahra and her mother will be attending also. Show them you are not to be questioned ! Maybe then she will leave what does not belong to her."

"Ahh Ladonna. Ever so passionate about finding ways and means to show up the princess," Kaya laughed.

" She is just an ...intruder . She breaks in and destroys relationships. Thief wanting to take what does not belong to her," Ladonna started to mutter under her breath as she became annoyed.

" Can someone really dislike a person that much? "Kaya asked as she watched Ladonna pace the room comparing Zahra with every evil thing and person she could recall.

"You have not the slightest idea My Queen," Nathifa and Rada said in unison.

As Kiya and her handmaidens discussed their plans for the celebration, Amenei and Khai were having their own discussion.

"Your special guest is?"Amenei asked before taking a drink of water.

"Zahra."

"Who?"Amenei spat out his water on the Pharaoh.

"Seriously ! "Khai sighed at Amenei. "Was that necessary?"

"I was caught be surprise,my apologies,"He said between coughs.  "So only her?"He took another drink drink his water.

"The family."

"The what?"Amenei spat his water again showering the Pharaoh.

"Such a good thing I can swim. Are you intending to drown me?"

"No intention My Lord. I was really shocked that you still invited them and Therios of all persons,the crazy step-mother."

"Why would you be shocked? They attend every year,"Khai signaled a servant passing by . "Get me something to dry this water."

"Lady Kiya.  Do you really want to gather the present Queen with the Princess you broke your engagement with and her senile step- mother in the same room."

"Do not say it like that. It sounds horrible."

"Pharaoh, maybe because it is horrible!"Amenei stressed.

"They are like my family,"Khai responded as he took the cloth from the servant he spoke with.

"Dear Pharaoh I do understand but Therios? Really could you not just invite Zahra...only?"

"For the last time Amenei,Therois is not crazy or senile."

"You cannot judge. She is nice, loving and sane to you."

"You really need to stop."

"You do not understand,"Amenei mumbled under his breath.

"Why would you say that?"Khai replied.

"I forgot you were blessed with excellent hearing."

"Do not worry, sometimes I forget also."

Amenei shook his head before exhaling deeply. "Ahh Pharaoh."

"I will be like this for the rest of the day and will have to put up with me since you decided to share your drink with me...twice in such an unconventional manner."

"Can I dispute with that?"

"No you cannot."

"Just making sure, just making sure."

"Hello! What is going on?"Kiya greeted as she approached the two.

"Nothing , just planning,"Khai responded.

"I just thought to check on you two to see how everything is going since I was here."

"Everything is perfectly fine Lady Kiya,"Amenei replied.

"Except for part where you were trying to drown m-"Khai was cut off by Amenei slamming his hand on the table

"Everything I perfectly fine Lady Kiya,"Amenei repeated as he sent a glare to Khai.

"Now I really do not want to know a thing. You both look preoccupied and you are both scarring me...very much."

"I need  water ,"Amenei sighed as he took up his cup.

"No!"Khai called out. "Please,no more water until I leave. Twice was just enough."

"Stop making it sound that bad!"Amenei slammed the cup back down the table.

"Well...I will leave you two alone to do ...whatever it is that you are doing." Kiya made a U-turn to where she came from.

"Yes Pharaoh, scare her away,"Amenei teased.

"Ha! "Khai laughed sarcastically as her got up. "Take a break."

"Just because you are going on one. Mean Pharaoh! Pre-birthday meanness I tell You!"

"Drink your water and spit it on someone else who will appreciate."

"Good one! Very good one!"

Khai chuckled and shook his head as he walked down the hallway a few feet behind Kiya.

"You are being strange again,"Kiya stopped in her tracks."

"Really ? "

"You know it too Pharaoh."

"Maybe a little,"he smiled.

"So? Anything in particular you wanted why you were walking me down in the hallway?" Kiya turned to him.

"Nothing really."

"Ahh."

"How is Re doing? I have not seen him."

"Re has adapted to a Royal lifestyle and has made friends with Nathifa so she could feed him grapes."

Khai laughed. "He is really something."

"Definitely. He abandoned me for grapes. I thought he found some kindness when he came back and gave me a single grape."

"That was nice of him. I did not take him for the sharing type."

"Oh he is not because he took it back and ate it when he realized that he did not have anymore. That was the whole reason I came out here. To get grapes and eat in front of him and not give him one but then I stumbled upon you two with your strange behavior and forgot about everything."

"You are still so childish."

"Did you not see he started the war?"

Khai leaned on the wall laughing.

"Why are you laughing?"Kiya pouted.

"With a gift like that, I just wonder what gift you are going to give to me."

"What do give to someone who has everything?" Kiya looked at him.

"Hmm, good question since you are everything I really need."
