60: " Interrupted "

"It was honestly the best sleep I have ever gotten. I feel new,"Kiya stretched.

"I truly am happy that you feel better today."

"I know you figured it out. Please do not get upset with my actions."

"No no My Queen. "

"I already know she calling you would cause some sort of problem."

"Not calling me was the problem," Ladonna grumbled under her breath.
Kiya looked at her with raised eyebrows. Ladonna cleared her throat and continued doing her duties.

"If there is a probl-"

"No not at all My Lady," Look Ladonna cut her off.

"You just look so troubled. Wait, did you approach Zahra by any chance?"

"I approached no one My Queen."

"Listen I know present arrangements are making you unhappy but all this is in the name of peace. The arguments year Khai apart when he has to chose between his only family and me. That is not right and I feel responsible. I do this for him and not really myself. Can you understand?"

"I understand, I always understand."

"She is an evil person underneath! I do not understand!" Ladonna paced. "My job is being compromised! I was told to protect her but I made her accept evil to live alongside her!"

"First of all I need you to calm down!"Nathifa raised her voice to get Ladonna's attention. "Do you remember our arrangements?"

"Yes, see if her words are really true but what she said to me-"

"No," Nathifa cut her off. "No that, we cannot think about that. You have hatred in your heart for what she made happen but that is your past as harsh and heartless as this may sound but this is Lady Kiya's future and she is trying to fix it. If your actions are based on what she did to you, how will you know if she really changed and the words are true? You will be blinded, you would not see the truth."

"What do you actually take me for Nathifa? If I know a storm is coming why will I wait on the rain to prepare for it? We cannot wait for the rain! I know the storm is coming and Zarah is carrying it. Heavy rains, floods and people will perish!"

"You need to calm down right now !"Nathifa stomped her foot. "Finish it right there right now!"

Ladonna fumed with anger hearing the youngest silencing have a such a manner.

"Remember who you are speaking to !"

"Age has no ground here Ladonna. Get a grip on yourself,"Nathifa pushed pass her.

Ladonna stood rooted in her tracks unable to reply to Nathifa who walked out of the room. She dropped herself to the ground and stared of into space. Her very presence was tear in everything apart and made her look like the heartless soul who could not let go off her past to put others first, to put her Queen first. All she tries to do is protect her with only good intentions in her heart.

"Am I the one who is blinded?" She asked herself. "Am I trying to do what is best for me or for my Queen?"

"I wonder how big you are? "Kiya placed her hand on her stomach. "Why is someone so small causing so much suffering?  You need to give me a break, just one day is all I ask for. Just one day where you behave nicely just for me."

Kiya sighed deeply. Things were confusing even though she thinks she is doing the right thing.

"Do you like you her? She is like your father's family and I think they all dislike me. She says she wants to be...good? Do you believe her? Ladonna does not. I have no idea why she dislikes...no hate. She hates her to the very bone and I have no idea why. I want to give her a chance just for your father not even for me. I try not to care about what they say about me. I just have to wonder if I am making the right decisions. Ladonna is usually right," Kiya sighed. "Why am telling you all this? You have no idea what is going on. Never mind what I said , just consider giving me a day off,"Kiya covered her face. "I am still talking to you!  But please I really need that day!"

"My Queen, is there something wrong? Are you doing well?"

"Me? Yes of course. Nothing is wrong,"She flashed a smile. "I was just talking about you too."

Ladonna looked around the room. "With... Whom?"She asked hesitantly not seeing anyone else in the room.

"I have not gone crazy Ladonna. I just ended up having a conversation with this one here,"she patted her stomach.

"Getting along I see?"

"I am trying so much."

"I just came to check on you as I heard the mumbled when I was passing your door."

"I am fine at the moment but you do not look that way. What is the matter? Is it because of today? I told you that-"
Ladonna cut Kiya off.

"No My Queen as I said earlier ,I am not upset at all."

"But you do not look like yourself. You can tell me if there is something wrong, maybe I can fix it somehow."

"I doubt you can."

"Tell me and I will be the judge of that. Is it because Zahra is here? I know you do not trust her. "

"I do not but I fear she has changed and I am judging her from past experiences."

"Past experiences? What experiences? Did something happen ? Did she do something? What did she do?"

"The reason I behave that way towards her is -"

"My lady? You are needed quickly! We have just received word from the Pharaoh."
