Khai's P.O.V
"My Lord he is outside," Amenei reported to me.
My palms were sweating and my heart pounded in my chest. " Let them send him in. I will go to Kiya."
I made my way to the room. The atmosphere around me was heavy and became heavier the closer I got to her."I can barely recognize you."
"I could say the same thing Kiya," I sighed.
"Is there something at the door? The times you come to visit me you cling to it."
"You are not yourself."
"And you think I am unaware of that? "
"We are trying to help you !"
"All you want to do is take him away from me and let some other woman raise him! I will not stand for that!"
"We just want you to get some rest ."
"I have to watch him and make sure he is fine."
"I hated doing this but I had to."
"Khai what are you talking about?"
" There is a physician here to see you."
"What!"
"He is outside right now."
"Did you not feel it is important to get my input on this?"
"You are not in the state of mind!" I tried not to raise my voice but she was not hold any thing back.
"How would you know what state of mind I am in?Do you ever come close to me anymore? You are always by the door! Is your life there now?" She huffed .
"That is over the line Kiya," my body tensed.
" No ! Do you know what is over the line? I can tell you what is over the line ! You not being able to look me in the face and you not being able to hold your own son!"
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist. " You have... no right to go there!"
"You had no right to do this !" She raised her voice over mine.
"I did it for you!"
"Well I said it because it is the truth! Tell me I am lying! Tell me I am wrong and I will take it back!"
My chest heaved up and down as her words echoed in my ears. She was angry, angrier than I ever anticipated her to be.
"Am I wrong Pharaoh? Come and prove me wrong!" Her eyes got red and brimmed with the tears she was trying so hard to fight. He voice cracked as she struggled to suppress her sobs. " It hurts you this much because it is true and you know it."
I could not say a word I turned away and pushed open the doors. "Send him in now !" I ordered as I stormed out of the room.
"My Lord I-"
"Now is not the time Amenei," I cut him off.
I should be in there but I cannot bare to see her at this moment. She would not want me there either way. It was probably for the better. Her angry words always haunted me. I leaned against the wall and folded my arms. I lingered outside at a distance from the doorway unable to walk away completely.
"My Lord?" Amenei walked up beside me. I sighed and ignored him. " My Lord, you do not have to reply but you are needed inside. He would like to speak with you... both of you."
I glanced at him for a moment quickly scanning his face. Was this serious? I propped myself off the wall and nodded to show that I heard him. I dragged my feet to door with my mind already made up that I would keep my interaction with her at minimal until she cooled down. It made no sense to engage in conversation now, especially in a situation that she did not approve. I mentally slapped myself. I was not prepared for this , I should have expected this.
"My Lord please come in." I glance Kiya bundled up in the sheets with Naeem sleeping peacefully beside her. " Maybe I should not beat around the bushes with this, it is better I tell you straight. I wanted you both to understand this."
All he was doing was building the tension and air was getting thicker with every word he said.
"Go ahead then," I said blandly." My Lady," he turned to Kiya. " I could see you had a complicated in you birth and this caused further complications during labor. You-"
"Please wait ," Kiya said softly. "Could you tell me about my son first...please?"
"Why of course My Queen. He is premature. I was surprised he has been holding on this long . Most would have passed being born in such conditions. I do apologize but it will be a miracle if he live to be two years old."
Kiya took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut.
"That might change but based on what I have seen I..."
"I understand," Kiya interjected. "You can resume what you were saying about my condition."
"You are sleep deprived and you have lost a lot of weight. Being like this cannot support you both," he looked in Naeem. " You need help, you need sleep , you need to recover entirely so you can properly take care of him. Also..." his voice trailed off.
"What is the matter?" I raised my eyes brows.
"Well My Lord... My Lady... the labour was complicated... as I said before. "
"Could you say it plainly." Kiya said.
"It would not be safe for you to carry another child. This may endanger you , the unborn child or you both."
"So are you saying..." my voice faded out .
"My Queen, you may not be able to have anymore children."
