while you and kihyun were outside, earlene managed to drag changkyun back into the room where the two kings were sitting. changkyun awkwardly sat there while earlene kept on squealing in his ears as the room was dead silent.
"since we aren't talking may i be excused?", changkyun said while not making eye contact.
his father gave him a side glance.
"no you can't. but i will let you go, only if you let earlene tag along. you both are going to have to get closer."
"let's go kyunnie~"
earlene tugged changkyun off his chair and skipped along side him. she was the cheery, clingy and lovey person. but in changkyun's opinion she was really annoying and just always wanted attention. he couldn't understand why everyone likes her.
"kyunnie-"
"can you stop calling me that?"
"are you treating me like this because i'm not [y/n]?"
"what?"
earlene took a deep breath in, almost ready to cry.
"why do you like her so much? besides, she loves someone else."
she pointed outside the window, showing the view of you laying on kihyun's shoulder. changkyun felt his heart ache. even from such a far view, changkyun could see the small flower rings that were on your hands. for the first time in forever changkyun felt jealous.
"kyunnie? where are you going?"
changkyun ran down the hallway, leaving earlene alone. he walked past his father's portrait and all the way out. once he entered the outside world he ran through the garden and into the field. the only thing his eyes laid on was you and kihyun. before he even knew it, warm liquid fell down his eyes.
"changkyun?"
you turned around and called his name, standing up.
"what's wrong?"
"what's wrong? you really don't know what's wrong?"
his eyes showed sadness as they stared into yours. you didn't know what to say.
"i don't know what's wrong. there's so many possible choices. it could be that you don't want the marriage or that you're mad that kihyun is here-"
