GAMES - Author Games: Victors of the Arena

Synopsis: "It is dirt from which all things grow, and so he burns the earth on which he walks."

Name: Percy Cole

Gender: Male

Age: 26

District: Four; Fishing

Physical Appearance: One could hardly tell nine years have passed since his last physical evaluation, but alas, there are a few more creases above the brow than there were before, and deeper-set laugh lines than previously noted. He still retains that boyish look about him as an adult, and hasn't ventured away from the lankiness of youth. He's stronger, though, thicker in the arms and legs and sharper in other places. His hair's still of a light brown shade, short, but there's more gold showing through in some places, more red in others. His identifier, though, has to be the brown eyes, almost black in color, framed by intent brows. Not much else is worth noting; however, if one were to lift the hem of his shirt to take a peek at his abdomen, they'd find one wicked scar, dead-center.

Personality: Percy, albeit having undergone change (as most people do), has managed to keep his head screwed on rather well. Patience, still, is one of his strongest virtues, as well as his ability to keep his temper at a minimum. However, these are two of the only things he's kept steady, as other things have trickled in to take charge. He keeps his attitude bright and social, yes, but there's something a little off in his demeanor; he zones out, he grows obsessive, anxious, and sometimes he'll do things that freak out those around him. His previous hankering for knowledge has manifested itself into something troubling, and most nights he stays up til dawn scurrying to learn all he needs about the subject of choice. You can't blame him for taking so long, though, for he thinks in bunches of threes and can't seem to break the habit.

Past: Before the Games, Percy's only concerns had been working several jobs for a suitable income, meeting the daily quota, and culturing himself on the other Districts. His brother, Nigel (presently 24), was always a significant presence in his life, and their bond has screwed the other over plenty. That's all before the story began, though. The Games in which Percy had volunteered had initially been the one in which Nigel was reaped. Upon entering the arena, the first bits of something unusual really began to show through pried cracks, and he was dubbed a wild card. He'd allied with his partner, naturally, as well as Seven and the male counterpart of Thirteen (the latter of which caused quite a bit of an issue for everyone). After the death and abandonment of his allies, the finale rose up. When it came down to the final two, his opponent managed to strike him with a poison-laced knife. This just so happened at the same time Percy caught him aflame with a spare match, however, and as soon as the cannon sounded, the poison was promptly pumped from his system so that a Victor might be had. This, in and of itself, was not supposed to happen, and Percy is convinced to this very day that he's unintentionally skewed the odds.

He and his brother currently live with one another in the Victor's Village, as neither were welcome back to their childhood home. Percy doesn't mind this, as they leave often for visitations with so-and-so and other common outings, but he does wish the reputation of the two would leave them be. Four doesn't appreciate them so much, not anymore, but that doesn't stop the more influential of people from, to put it frankly, kissing ass. That's okay. He does it back.

Strengths: One of the more highlighted traits he developed within his first arena was his tendency to be rather unpredictable in any given situation; this might have some appeal to sponsors the same as it did once before. The natural skills of Four, additionally, give him quite the lift in an expansive variety of things. In social situations, he tends to be outgoing and optimistic, which (if the unpredictability put allies off) could persuade someone into a strong alliance. He's certainly looking for one.

Weaknesses: He's always had an issue with hearing, and so this'll set him at a significant disadvantage. This, naturally, is why he plans to depend on an alliance to give the warning signs for things he doesn't quite pick up. If he doesn't manage to snag one, he's a bit screwed. Another thing that's going to be one hell of a trip is the constant return of abdominal pain here and there. He's grown used to it enough to not fall to the floor, but it's still an overwhelming sensation. Again with the thinking in bunches of threes - they tend to do more harm than good, and will be more prominent when he's flung into a panic, thus, slowing down his planning and reacting process.
