(Phil's POV)
About a week ago, the manager of this particular store said we'd be getting a new employee to help out during the weekdays. We didn't really need more help since we didn't have that many customers on a day-to-day basis, but we were a little short-staffed sometimes. Any who, today was just a regular Wednesday with me and two other people, Becky and Jessica, running the store. The two girls were aimlessly chatting away with a customer who looked like he needed an excuse to get out of the conversation and I was taking inventory when the front door opened and the manager walked in with a boy in tow behind him. He mustn't have been much younger than me, but I didn't want to stare, so I shifted my gaze to the manager who was introducing him to us.
"Guys, this here is Daniel Howell. He'll be here on weekdays with you guys to help around the store. Dan, these girls are Becky and Jessica." Becky and Jessica had made their way over here as soon as they saw the new boy, probably eager to see if he was dateable. They both giggled flirtatiously and waved at him. "And this here is Phil." He turned his gaze away from them and onto me, and GOODNESS GRACIOUS HE HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EYES. I must've been blushing as I waved because my face felt so hot, but at least I didn't openly flirt with him like Becky and Jessica did. He smiled at me and turned his attention back to the manager, who was telling him about what he'll be doing. In the meantime, the boy who was previously trapped by the two girls had managed to escape the store.
All too quickly, the manager finished up and left the store, meaning Becky and Jessica were free to bribe Dan into dating them. Just like I thought, they started batting their eyelashes at him and lightly touching his arms. "Wow, Dan. You're so tan!" "Hey! Dan and tan rhyme!" And with that, they collapsed in a fit of giggles. Dan looked pleadingly at me as they clutched their stomachs, so I beckoned him over to the back corner of the store.
"So you've met Becky and Jessica, huh?" Dan simply rolled his eyes and groaned. "I think they got closer to me than necessary for talking, but I didn't want to offend them." "Well that's awfully nice of you, but don't be afraid to push them back every now and then." He laughed lightly, a small smile appearing on his lips. "Thanks for the advice. The manager said I needed someone around here to show me the ropes. Is it ok if I choose you?" Is it ok if you choose me? Is it ok if I want to push you down on one of these mattresses and- "Yes, of course." Darn brain.
The next few minutes, I showed Dan how to work the checkout area, how the storage room was organized, and how to take inventory all while trying not to stare at his butt. Worse, the entire time we were going over stuff, Becky and Jessica were following him like two hyperactive puppies, laughing loudly at every tiny joke one of them cracked. Thankfully, before I could snap at them, they got bored with the lack of attention they were getting from Dan and they went back to the cash register. "Oh thank God! I mean, oh well." I tried to cover up my blunder, but thankfully Dan laughed and said he was thinking the same thing.
The rest of the day went by rapidly since Dan was talking to me during most of it. I all too quickly had to say goodbye to him so he could go home, leaving me to lock up the store alone. Becky and Jessica took an early leave to chase a cute guy they saw walking past the store. I wish that man good luck. I know I'm probably being a bit rude to them, but if anyone put me on a deserted island with them and said I had to resort to cannibalism to survive, I wouldn't be sorry.
~One Week Later~
Dan had been doing really well at the store. I no longer needed to help him work the register or fill out order forms, but I pretended to help sometimes so I could be with him. It was working too, until he caught on. "Phil? Why are you helping me? You know I can do this on my own, and you've seen me do it for a week now, so why exactly are you guiding my hand as I fill this form out?" I looked down and saw his hand holding a pen, and my hand wrapped around his. I looked back up at him and saw I had moved really close to him. I swallowed audibly and backed away from him, releasing my grasp on his hand in the process. I saw him smirk, which caused my face to heat up in a not-so-subtle way. "Well this'll be interesting," I thought.
He cast the pen aside and turned towards me. Folding his arms, he cocked his head to one side and said, "Don't think I haven't noticed you flirting with me. Looking at me when you think I won't notice. Pretending to think I need help so you can spend more time around me." With each point he made, he stepped closer to where I was standing. I, in turn, stepped backwards until the back of my legs hit the edge of one of the mattresses. He continued walking towards me until there was only an inch of space between us. Softly, but firmly, he said, "But don't think for even a second that I don't want it, too." "Then do it, Howell."
He firmly placed his hands on my hips and pulled me towards him, attaching his lips to my collarbone at the same time. I closed my eyes as I felt his teeth graze my skin, then gently biting down on it. I had wrapped my arms around his torso, and I pulled him back with me onto the bed. He continued to nibble on the skin around my neck, kissing each new mark he made. I soon noticed he had stopped and so I opened my eyes. His face was about two inches from mine, his eyes fully dilated, and his breathing heavy. He smiled a bit and closed his eyes, guiding his head towards mine. I followed in suit, soon feeling two soft lips press against mine. I moved my hands to the back of his head, weaving my fingers through his brown waves. He had propped himself up on both elbows, but remained on top of me as he worked his lips against mine. I tugged lightly on one of the strands of hair by his neck, eliciting a small moan from the boy. I smirked into the kiss and continued to tug on the strands until..."Oh my gosh, Becky! Are you seeing this?"
Dan immediately pulled back from the kiss and jumped off of me. I sat up and saw Becky and Jessica holding up their phones and gawking at us, obviously collecting footage of us kissing.
"Why are you guys filming us? Stop it!" I said quite loudly. Dan stood there beside me, his face red and his hair messed up. The girls started giggling and ran out of the shop. Dan turned around and shook his head. Smiling, he said, "I guess we'll never know what they'll do with that footage." "Who knows? But that was hot." He laughed as a blush appeared on his already red face. "Same to you. Do you, um, want to go get frozen yogurt after our shift?" I nodded excitedly, and grabbed his outstretched hand so I could stand up. Once I was off the bed, I gave him one last soft kiss on the lips before running to the cash register before the next batch of customers entered.
