Chapter 7 part2

"I'm so happy for you Danielle." I heard Dad said over the phone.

I just received an email that I passed the USRN exam and I can now practice my profession here.

"Thanks Dad." I said warmly

I am just so happy. I can now go on with my plan.

"So how are you in there?" my Dad asked.

"Oh. I've been working part-time as a receptionist in a nearby department store. That kept me busy." I said.

I looked at Jace who is sitting beside me.

We've already talked about our strategy in introducing him to my family. Everything happened so fast between us that I don't think my dad would be happy with.

"That's good. Have you met any Filipinos there? Do you have friends in there?"

I've met a few Filipinos but to be honest I've been really occupied with Jace so I haven't talked to them much.

"Yeah, I've met a few. I have a close friend here named Jace."

"A he or a she?"

I knew he would ask me that.

"Dad, Jace is a guy's name. Of course he's a he."

"Danielle, you have to be careful okay? I don't mind you having a boyfriend but you have to be careful. I am far from you, I cannot protect you." Dad warned.

"Don't worry Dad. We're still getting to know each other." I said. Now that he opened up the subject, I just have to give him a hint.

"So you're dating him?"

"Sort of." I said quietly.

Jace held my hand tightly. I can sense he is also getting nervous.

"When should I at least talk to him or something?" Dad finally asked.

I looked at Jace.

"He is with me now."

Jace's eyes grew wide.

If Dad wasn't on the other line I would laugh at him hard. He looked ridiculously surprised.

"Oh. Can I talk to him?"

I offered my phone to Jace and put my phone on loudspeaker so I could hear what they will talk about.

Jace grabbed my phone and place it in handset setting and walked towards my bedroom and locked it.

I was surprised. I actually thought he was too nervous to talk with my dad that he will let me hear their conversation so I can coach him up.

But I'm glad he did not and man himself up enough to somehow face my dad alone.

After a few minutes, Jace opened the door and went to me reaching my phone towards me.

I grabbed my phone while I searched his face.

"Dad?" I called out.

"He seemed a nice guy."

Relief flooded me. Dad seemed to like Jace.

I saw Jace grinning from ear to ear.

"You think so?"

"Yes"

"You think I can let him be my boyfriend?" I said in a whispering voice. I just have to ask.

"Jace told me he was already your boyfriend."

"Oh." I said surprised.

"What did he told you?" I added

"That everything happened fast. He told me about your plan of telling me slowly. He told me that his intention is pure and I felt his sincerity, Danielle. And I trust him that He will take care of you in there."

I am overwhelmed.

"Thank you dad."

"But if ever anything bad happens, if he forced you to do things you don't like, don't hesitate to tell me okay?"

"Yes dad. don't worry."

"Okay. Take care."

"Bye dad. Love you." The  I hung up.

I looked at Jace.

He is smiling.

"I just had to tell him. I felt he was ready." He told me.

"I'm glad you did." I said as I hugged him

It felt absolutely light and.. I don't know. I am really happy knowing that Dad approved Jace.

Jace pressed his lips into mine.
