Kuroo's POV
My hand grazed along the side of the walls as I headed back to Nekoma's dorm room, paying so little attention to where I was walking that I smacked my forehead against at least three doors on the way there. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't clear this overwhelming rush in my head. I guess that kiss really threw me for a loop.
Or maybe it was everything else that happened that night. I was left to face the cold hard truth of it all. Jiro was abusive. For some reason, he wanted those girls out of the public eye, he wanted them to be hated by everyone they met. The big question is why. I had no idea where to even start in figuring it out, I just knew that I had a week to do something, or I'd never get to see Akiraa again. The girls will be lost forever, but I refuse to let that happen.
I was so lost in thought that I came close to walking straight past the Nekoma dorm, but the voices from inside was what snapped me back to reality as my feet skidded to a haunt outside of the door.
"I swear its true!" Lev's panicked tone was able to be heard out in the hall as I stood back to listen to what he was saying. "The coach was actually going to hit her!"
Wait... was he telling them about what happened? Lev, you idiot! We were suppose to keep that a secret!
Every bit of me wanted to bust through that door and stop him before he could spill anything else, but knowing that it was probably already too late, I just slide over to the wall next to the door, putting my ear up to the small gap so I could listen to their reactions. Carefully peeking inside, I seen that their expressions were a mix of many things, some being complete horror and others just humorous disbelief.
There were a lot of confused murmurs that went around before someone spoke again. "Are you sure his hand wasn't just reaching up to scratch his head or something?" Yaku asked, clear bitterness in his tone. "Those girls will make up anything to make themselves seem innocent. Plus, I don't even see why you're defending them in the first place. It's because of them that you were almost pulled from the game earlier!"
I hear the silver haired beanstalk give a loud groan. "You shouldn't be so quick to judge them, they were actually really nice tonight. It's the coaches fault, he's the one that makes them play so rough!" There was a small pause. "And he wasn't just reaching up to scratch his head! I seen how scared Miyu was when she seen what he was going to do, he was actually going to hit her!"
More confused murmurs exploded from the boys, this time louder than before, and I began to worry that the other team's would begin to hear us considered they were only a few rooms away. Still, that wasn't enough to cover the rage I was feeling towards my team, who I never took to be so ignorant! I now seen why Katsushika has had such a hard time recently, I was now watching firsthand what happens to all their opponents when they play against the girls under Jiro's reign.
Unable to take it anymore, I turn the corner and open the door, making everybody jump as I storm into the room. "Kuroo!" Tora exclaimed as I headed to for my sleeping sack by the window. "Where'd you go? Its been almost an hour since Lev got back."
"I was talking with Akiraa. She's still pretty beaten up after what happened." I couldn't hold back the snap in my voice as I turned my attention towards Lev, ignoring everyone's else's stunned expressions. "And I remember giving our word that we wouldn't tell a soul about what happened in the gym, Lev. What are you thinking!?"
"I had to, Kuroo! I didn't want them talking bad about the girls anymore!" Lev fought back, sitting straight up on his knees so he could meet my gaze, which wasn't hard considering his massive height.
I wanted to argue again, but I knew deep down that I couldn't be angry with the kid for that reason. It's obvious how fond he has become of the Katsushika girls, especially Akiraa and Miyu. His protectiveness kind of made me proud in a sense.
