HAHA WHOOPS!! This chapter ended up being so much longer than I thought and honestly I have no idea how (it's 8057 words) 😂😂 I've rewritten this probably three different times because it never came out just how I pictured, but I guess it true when people say third times a charm! I honestly thought this would be a short chapter but I realized so much needed to be said/done to begin the story, so yeah...

Alright, hope you guys enjoy this next chapter set, Rivals to The Core!

"Alright ladies! Get everything set up then meet in a huddle by the sidelines before we start!" Iku-sensei commanded, looking up from the clipboard in her lap when she hears us entering into the gym from the changing room. "We've got a lot to cover today, so I wanna see some hustling!"

A loud chorus of enthusiastic howls follows her order, along with the pounding of volleyball shoes against the court floor as we all stampeded towards the storage room, ready to begin our first practice in preparation for the Full Moon Games. They already feel so close it's as if I can smell them, and while my nerves were still torn to shreds, my excitement still continued to grow with every passing second.

It was utter chaos in the gym as everyone tried to pile through the doors of the storage room at once, my feet being almost pulled right from under me as I tried to get the the net poles toward the back. Finally, everyone gathers the essentials, like towels, bottles, and balls, and start filing outside again to start setting up.

Ren comes up to help me with the first net pole, while Isozaki drags a very annoyed Shinobu over to help her with the other one.

As we make our way back into the gym, which was now bustling with energy, I see Isozaki's head look over to me while keeping a steady pace with everyone else. "Do you think we'll finally get something worked out about these games today?" She asks worryingly, fiddling with a stand of her wavy brunette hair. "I've heard talk from the other teams, and they seen just as discombobulated as we are, and it's almost been a week already!"

"I don't blame them, a bomb was practically just dropped on the entire school!" I reminded her. "I talked to a few of the captains earlier, and apparently everyone is running ragged trying to figure out how to get their teams in order in time for the games."

I see Isozaki's hand suddenly fly up to her mouth as the tries to stifle a random giggle. "I can believe it. Just yesterday, I seen the cheer team laying face first in the grass and they almost got plowed over by the biking team who are already trying to get in some extra practice!"

"Well, what else are we supposed to do, two thirds of our training time has been cut because of those stupid bats!" Ren speaks up from behind me, gesturing so strongly with her hand that we both almost drop the pole. "I swear, Sukāretto better hope that I ain't around when they arrive, or they'll be getting a face full of knuckle, delivered by me personally!"

"Calm down, Ripper, we don't even know if it's their fault in the first place." I point out, holding a hand up to calm my teammate down. "All that matters is we learn to adapt and overcome so that we're ready for these games. It's not like we have much of a choice anyways."

My skin suddenly prickles when a low scoff was able to be heard from in front of Isozaki. "What a fool proof plan that is." Shinobu mutters under her breath, yanking annoyingly on her end of the pole just to get us walk faster as she flicks a few strands of silver hair out of her eyes. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say we we're doomed before we've even began."

My eyes roll so far back in my head I thought they would get stuck. "I don't remember bringing you into this conversation." I hiss under my breath, baring my teeth as she swivels her head around to throw me a sharp glare.
