Nobody really remembers what happened during those last two weeks of training. As the day inched closer and closer with every passing second, time became just a blur before their eyes, and it began to seem as if it was never going to come. However, after all of the long practices, scrimmage games, and maybe a few life threatening concussions... it seemed almost unreal to the girls as they all watched the sun rise together through their own bedroom windows on the long awaited day.
Akiraa can barely remember what happened after her eyes opened that morning. She remembers jumping out of bed, then after a few blurry minutes she is running out the door while trying to shove her right foot into its shoe, the top of her uniform on backwards and not even wearing socks. Thankfully, Kiyomi is there waiting by Akiraa's gate, as she usually is along with Mika and Miyu, and it only takes a second to drag Akiraa back into the house and get her straightened out before they all head to the bus station together.
Even though it's right at the crack of dawn, there is no stopping the buzzing rural town alive with activity as everyone waits anxiously for when Katsushika's gates finally open in just a few hours. Everywhere Akiraa looks, there is nothing but blue decorating every square inch of the streets, the residents even dawning blue T-shirts, hats, and even sunglasses, celebrating the crown jewel of this small mountain village. Before they even get to the bus stop, they have already been approached by dozens of fans, giving them thumbs up and wishing them luck in their game, promising to be cheering them on in the stands.
The bus ride passes by in a foggy haze as Akiraa stares distractedly out the window, watching the field of blue before her fade into green as they turn down the road of Katsushika. She hears her friends chattering on about the day ahead, Miyu's cheery voice able to be heard all over the bus as she jumps around from seat to seat, talking to some curious town residents on the ride with them.
The ride felt as if it lasted forever, while at the same time, Akiraa can barely remember pulling up to the campus road entrance. She can't even recall passing by the iconic silver wolf statues. The last thing she remembers is driving down the winding forest path, then after just one blink, she is feeling a slight nudge against her arm with a voice following right after. "Akiraa. Hey, Akiraa!"
She is finally pulled back to reality when a hand suddenly waves in front of her face, and she almost chokes on air when she realizes that she's standing right inside the Katsushika campus, the main brick building able to be seen a short ways away.
As she looks around, she feels a slight pull on her jacket sleeve. "Akiraa..." Kuroo says again. "You- you know you have your jacket on inside-out, right?"
Looking down, she lets out a tired growl when she sees the backward stitch on her chest, and it's almost impossible for Kuroo to hold in his laughter as he watches her dance around trying to get it off. This only earns him a strong slap on the shoulder, followed by a joking scowl as Akiraa finally gets her jacket back on the right way. "Don't make fun of me! With the nerves plus a lack of sleep, I'd forget my own head if it wasn't attached to me!"
