——————————————————

Only a few minutes ago, standing outside of the gym, Akiraa had been overcome with the feeling that they could do anything. It was like the whole world had been shut out for just those few minutes, and nobody ever wanted it to end.

However, as Akiraa steps through the door of the gym, the court stretching out in front of her, she feels a heavy rock come to settle in her stomach again. "I think I'm gonna be sick..." she groans under her breath, having to grab hold of Kuroo's arm before her knees give out from under her.

Kuroo quickly grabs hold of Akiraa's shoulders, trying his best to steady her before anyone else can see her unease. "I guess the the moment didn't last as long as we hoped it would." He chuckles nervously. "But at least it got you girls back in the gym."

Akiraa throws him a weak glare. "Because that was the hardest part of all this?"

Kuroo raises a knowing eyebrow at the low growl in her tone, and Akira's eyes widen when she feels her grip beginning to slip on her own emotions again. "Sorry..." she apologizes, inhaling a deep breath before straightening back up again. "It's just... yeah, we're back in the gym, but I don't think a pep talk is just going to make the problem go away. What if we get back on the court and do the exact same thing?"

Akiraa wraps her arms tight around her body, and Kuroo notices her gaze continuing to focus on the ground, as if purposely trying to avoid looking at the court in front of them. "Is that what you're afraid of?" He asks, turning slightly so that he is standing between her and the gym.

After a second of hesitation, Akiraa feels Kuroo's finger gently brush against her cheek, and her eyes drift up to his while digging her nails painfully into her arm. "I... I guess I am." She admits. "Anyone with a passion for anything fears failure, especially after everything we've done to get this far. This game will tell us the truth... and that's scary."

Unable to avoid it any longer, Akiraa's gaze boldly looks back to the court, but this time, the fear in her eyes is completely clouded over with something much stronger. Nostalgia, longing, determination.

Her eyes glow like a bright blue flame, despite the utter terror he knows is festering within the dark corners of her mind. Boldly, Kuroo steps up to her side, again, setting a strong hand on her shoulder while looking out to the court. "Well, whatever happens," he says, glancing over and giving her a small wink. "We'll be here for you."

They are simple words, words that people say every day, but they offer more comfort to Akiraa than anyone could ever imagine.

As a small chuckle escapes her lips, she reaches up and sets her hand over Kuroo's, giving him a knowing nod before finally stepping onto the court and walking over to where her team is still huddled around Iku-sensei on their side of the court.

As she approaches, she can already hear the coach's signature scolding tone that can even make the hairs on the arms of people across campus stand on edge. "I don't care how much stress you're under or what has been said, you know good and well what this school expects of its students. You were brought here to win, and if you can't do that, then there's no point in you even being here. It's as simple as that, so don't tell me you got your heads on straight then go back out there and get shaken up again. You better be ready to prove it."
