19: Less & More

"Merde! Again?!" Belle moved quickly but was unable to stop Davie from falling from the chair. She cushioned the woman as she fell into her. "Mama, call Francois he can be here in less than 10 minutes."
----

Francois moved the woman to her bed easily. She was beginning to regain awareness when she dropped her gently into the linens.

"Thank you Cher!" Delia kissed Francois lightly on the cheek and led him out.

Mirabelle sat on the edge of Davie's bed finding herself in a familiar position; looking down on her and pushing her hair gently away from her face.

Davie blinked and sat up dragging her hands through her hair, "Again?!"

Belle laughed lightly, "Oui! And longer this time. If you wanted to get me into your bed, all you had to do was ask."

Davie smirked,"Very funny. Where's Delia?"

"She's in the kitchen, do you want me to get her?"

"No. No, I'm okay."

Mirabelle sighed deeply with relief. "Davie, you have to stop doing this to me. I told you, I have a crush. You're killing me!"

Davie grinned and laughed, shrugging apologetically. Mirabelle thought her heart would stop with happiness. When Davie's laughter calmed she looked over at Mirabelle and got caught up in a stare. Davie moved her lips carefully, "Belle, you are a wonderful person. You have me spinning."

Belle grinned, raising an eyebrow, "Is that a good thing?"

"I think so. But this ..." Davie moved her hands through the air indicating the night's events "this is not 'good.'" Davie winked,"You keep making me faint."

"Stop it, Davis Kaplan!"

Davie's eyes widened when Belle used her full name. She bantered back, "Sorry, Mirabelle Fontaine!"

"Okay! Truce!" Mirabelle smiled warmly at the woman. Her voice rang with sincerity. "May I stay here tonight Davie? It would make me feel so much better. Just in case. Please?"

Davie could hear the words immediately in her mind. She nodded and sighed feeling both relief and exhaustion. "Mmm-Hmm, I would like that. Yes. Thank you."

Belle grinned,"Thank you."

Davie flirted back, "Hmmmm ... maybe this isn't the best idea? Can you behave?"

Belle laughed, "Do I have to?"

Davie tugged on her lower lip and looked upward feigning deep contemplation, "Ummm, good point."

Belle gasped, staring at Davie's lips, she whispered, "Davie, that was cruel."
----

"Belle, you call me if you need me." Delia hugged her daughter at the front door. "And Mirabelle ..." Delia's voice warned.

Mirabelle grimaced "Mama! We'll be fine."

"Okay Cher, I love you. Call me tomorrow." Mirabelle nodded and moved back into the house.
----

Davie pulled out a spare t-shirt and sweatpants, a blanket, and a pillow from her bed. She stacked the items at the bottom of the bed and then moved to the bathroom to get ready for bed. When she returned to her room she found the items cleared and she moved out to the sofa where Belle was changed and settling in. "Belle, I'm done in the bathroom." Davie nodded to the back of the small home.
