39: Both
Davie and Belle sat facing each other, legs crossed, sitting comfortably on Davie's bed. Once they settled in Davie raised an eyebrow and grinned.
"Um ... Davis ..."
"Mmm-Hmm?"
Belle grimaced and laughed lightly. "This feels weird."
Davie's eyes widened with surprise and the memory of the night she kissed Evie flashed through her mind. A smile broke over her face at her own private joke. "Mmmm-Hmmm. Super weird."
"Maybe we can't force this Davis. You know I love you. I feel like now at this moment, telling you is ... clinical?"
Davis laughed,"Mirabelle, you're wearing my pajamas and sitting on my bed. It's cute but, let me bring you into the labs. That's clinical."
Belle smirked,"There are cameras there."
"Stop it Mirabelle!" Belle rolled with laughter. "Would you help me to try a new name with me instead?"
Belle nodded,"Of course." Belle winked and said lightly, "I love you."
Davie paused for a moment at returning Belle's gaze. She considered the words and the feelings that rippled through her. "Mirabelle ..." No sound, but Davis continued. "I hear you. When you tell me that you love me. I hear you." She smiled softly, "Thank you."
Belle nodded, swallowing the knot that formed in her throat and blinking back the tears that threatened. She intensely loved Davis in that moment but also felt frustration building.
Davis reached for her phone; she held it prone and ready but spoke first. She took a deep settling breath, "Belle, are you ready? Would you like to hear about the 'blue-haired' boy?"
The question broke Mirabelle's line of thought. "Oh, oui please, Davis. If you're ready."
Davie typed,"The words and memories anchored into that language have been coming back with greater ease. I'm still very aware of the cognitive process but it's definitely less difficult. I haven't shared yet, but I think I probably could have before now. Maybe I just wasn't emotionally ready." Davie's eyes moved up from her phone. "Okay?"
"Oui, I understand."
"So, originally there were 3 words and the memories attached but now there are other more minor reference words too. A dozen or so. They are kind of like the second and third wave that came along with access to the memories. I've always had the memories and words for myself and now I'm hoping to share them."
When Davis looked up this time to check on Belle she felt a little anxious and unsettled. Davie felt her eyes burning with anticipation and emotion. She saw Mirabelle focused, her eyes shimmering with love and compassion. Davie concentrated and put her phone down.
"Okay, so you know Doghouse and Big Blows."
Belle nodded, the image of the boathouse again flashed, this time sitting in stillness on the water. Then the doplar radar map of a storm. Belle watched Davis carefully, she looked unsettled and nervous.
"Mirabelle," Belle saw her favorite image. "The 3rd name is Evelyn."
Belle's eyes widened. She saw the young boy again but this time the image was clear and she could see it was a girl. She was young, slim, cute, feminine angular features, with a blue medium length pixie haircut. Belle thought she looked like a teenage skater girl. She could see that her eyes looked almost purple. "Oh Davis! 'Evelyn?' Did she wear contacts?"
