24: Jesus - You Win

Both Davie and Belle worked through their day determined to maintain focus. Their thoughts drifted occasionally back to each other and their morning conversation. By 5:30 Davie was moving from her house to Cane and Cream trying to pace herself reasonably.

"Good evening Davie!" Delia connected with Davie immediately flooding the space with compassion and wonder.

Davie chuckled feeling her body both release stress and shiver with bliss, "Delia! You feel wonderful!"

"Have a seat Cher! Belle is in the back, she'll be right out."

Davie smiled and nodded, moving back to 'her' seat. Delia joined her and they sat enjoying light conversation. It wasn't long before she heard movement from the backroom and looked up. Her heart skipped a beat in anticipation. She was startled by the intense wash of desire she felt.

Belle stepped out dressed in calf-height boots, jeans, and a form fitting mid-weight sweater. Davie's eyes widened and she felt a tightness in her body that was hard to ignore. With her new perspective and growing understanding of the Fontaines, Davie's impression of Belle shifted into the mystical.

Mirabelle's eyes sparkled like fluid golden amber. Her skin looked incredibly soft and warm. Her hair moved perfectly with her gait. And when she smiled Davie had to force herself to blink. She looked magical.

"Hello Davie." Belle grinned at her mother "Whatever Mama told you, it's only half true!"

"Mon Cher! Be nice! It's the good half that's true!"

Belle moved to a chair. As she sat she was a little disappointed that it wasn't closer to Davie. She wanted to reach out and touch and taste the woman.

Davie smiled and moved her lips slowly knowing what it would do to Belle. "Hello Belle, I've missed you."

Mirabelle smiled evilly, "Davie, we texted earlier today. Don't you remember? I could read them to you, if you forgot."

Davie blushed and glanced quickly over at Delia. She was laughing lightly, picking up easily on her daughter's tone. Davie would not let Belle gain the edge in their banter. She slowed the movement of her hands and lips. "I guess I should have been more clear. I've missed hearing you beg. I was under the impression that you don't do much of that."

At the sight of Belle's mouth breaking open in surprise and embarrassment, Davie smirked and raised her eyebrow slightly. She turned to Delia who was chuckling and nodding. "Okay you two. If you keep this up the only person who is going to win in embarassing the others will be me."

Belle's eyes widened with concern and trepidation, "Sorry Mamma, please don't start." Davie raised her hands in surrender. "Sorry, dinner Delia?"

Belle shot her mother a quick look.

"Oh no Cher! Charlie's only in town through the weekend. I'll be spending my evening with him." Her eyes bounced between the two women. "I'm sure you two can handle dinner without me."

Davie sat at the table watching Belle pull things from cupboards and the refrigerator. She pulled out her phone so Belle could continue to work. "So what's on the menu tonight?"

"Oh, I thought, vegetable plate, charcuterie, crawfish-mac-n-cheese, salad. Pretty simple. Okay?"

"That sounds incredible." Davie sat at the table impressed by the precision in Belle's movements.
