"Davis, are you okay?" Belle sat in the passenger seat. She had been watching Davis for almost 10 minutes sit in silent reflection. The car's gas tank was filled but neither of the women moved.
Davis blinked, Mirabelle's voice pulling her back to the present moment. She was replaying the morning interactions with the Reeses and wondering how painful it was for Mirabelle to see their suffering. When she turned she saw the most beautiful, "alive" eyes she had ever known. They were filled with compassion and love and Davis felt a kind of peace and comfort that was hard to capture in words.
"Mirabelle I love you. What you're doing for me it's magic."
Belle blinked, "Mon Amor ..."
Davis smiled softly, repeating Mirabelle's words back to her. "Let me finish."
Davis's eyes were shining with joy and sincerity. "I think you are wonderful. It's not just your intoxicating accent. It's not just your shimmering eyes, or your brilliant mind." Mirabelle smiled at Davis's banter, immediately relieved by her emotional state. Davis sighed with delight seeing emotion wash through Mirabelle.
"It's not just that I'm more myself when I'm with you. You ease the pain. You help me to understand the difference between regret and guilt. You are the most patient, loving person I have ever known. That's your special gift. I didn't see it at first. I didn't understand, like I do now." Davie smiled, love rolling off her. "Mirabelle, you amaze me. I love you."
Belle stared.
Davis grinned,"Mirabelle, nod if you understand."
Belle did not nod, she crashed into Davis. Kissing her with passion and devotion that left them breathless and aching.
"Belle ..." Davis spoke into Mirabelle's still wanting mouth. "We have to go ..."
Belle whimpered softly, "Oui Davis, where? Where can we go?" She pressed in, demanding more.
Davis was just barely able to slow the rising desire, she chuckled lightly. "To the airport Belle, let me show you my home.
----
"Davie! Honey!" Joan beamed, "You look wonderful!"
Davis signed and moved her lips for Belle. "I've missed you Mom, this is M-I-R-A-B-E-L-L-E. Belle."
Joan's eyes drifted to Mirabelle and her mouth dropped open, "Wow! Um, it's lovely to meet you in person Belle."
Belle smiled at the image of herself standing next to Davis. "Thank you Cher, it's nice to meet you too."
"Well, come on you two, your dad is meeting us at the house."
----
"You girls look exhausted." Richard sized up the two women from across the dinner table. He couldn't help but gaze a little longer at Belle. She seemed almost unreal, unlike anyone he had ever met.
Belle saw Davie through her father's eyes, still a little girl. She saw herself. She chuckled lightly, the images of a young Davis and a mature Belle, sitting beside each other. "Oui it's been an intense 24 hours. Worth it, but we're definitely tired." Belle looked at Davis waiting to see if she would fill in Richard and Joan.
"Mmmm yes, intense." Davis winked at Mirabelle as she signed,"I'm looking forward to bed. I'm not even sure what time it is. And I need some alone time with Belle."
Richard flushed, "Davie, you didn't need to share that."
Belle's mind flashed with Richard's visualization of his daughter in bed with her. Belle choked on her food, her eyes widened with embarrassment.
