33: She Loves Another

Davie fell back asleep. As the air cooled around them Belle pulled the sheets and covers over them and moved closer to create heat. She spooned Davis lightly, enjoying the quiet moment she tried to immerse herself completely into the physical contact knowing that they would have to move from the bed at some point. She would not attempt to move from Davis again until she had to.

"Mmmm. Mirabelle ..."

Belle grinned,"Good morning, again, Davis."

Davie chuckled and rolled to face Belle. "Good morning. How are you feeling?"

"Wonderful right now Davis, incredible. It will get uncomfortable later. You?"

"I feel amazing. Shower? Breakfast?"

"Oui, please."
----

"Cher, your shower is bigger than mine." Mirabelle smiled as she pushed the soap over Davie's body. "I like it."

Davie turned in the spray and reached to pull Belle close. "I like your shower Belle. You have to stay close."

Belle smirked. "Jesus, Davis. You're killing me."

Davie rinsed and rotated. "What do you have today?"

"Oh you know, breakfast with you. Lunch? Dinner? Too?"

Davie laughed,"Mirabelle, what about the shop?"

"Why don't you come in with me today? It's slow this time of year. I'll put you to work, you can visit with Mama, we can spend some time together 'resetting.'" Belle winked,"Maybe Mama will let me off early."

"Really?"

"Sure. After breakfast though, I'm starving."

Davie shrugged,"Okay that sounds like fun. Are you done?"

Belle smirked and wiggled her eyebrows. "Well, I've got this spot, it's tough to reach. Maybe you could help, again."
----

Davis and Belle continued to soap and rinse all their "hard to reach" spots and found themselves pained with hunger by the time they made it to Betsy's Pancake House for a carb and sugar boost. Davie ate enthusiastically and glanced up catching Belle in a stare. "What? Belle, are you going to eat?"

"Oui, Cher." Belle smiled and moved the food to her mouth without breaking her gaze. "I can't help it, Davis. I need to."

"Is it the 'gift'?"

Mirabelle's brow furrowed in consideration. "Yes. It's my gift but it's also me, Davie. It's me, intensified. I feel this way about you."

Davie nodded,"But you said it would stop. The 'need?'"

Belle saw hesitation in Davie's eyes. "Oh, I see. Oui, Cher. The feeling that I'm held captive by the emotions should end. But, I think that the emotions will still be there just different. Working with me, not against me."

"Hmmm." Davie understood what she was saying, it sounded very much like her relationship with her lost words and memories. "What will make that change?"

Belle swallowed her food and took a sip of coffee to give herself a moment to formulate her answer. "Um, Mama thinks that it's a matter of time. But, we're really only guessing, hoping. Each Fontaine is different, special."

"Oh. That must be hard?"

"Oui." Belle grinned, "But worth it."

Davis refocused on her meal and rolled with laughter. "Will you judge me if I get more?"
