The pain burns into your skin, leaving its imprint,

The darkness spreads like an ink stain in your heart.

But as long you hold on to me darling,

I won’t let it get to you.

I know it’s easier to just give up,

To let go and forget it all…

But we still have memories to carve; we still have dreams and stories to spin.

So, I’ll tell you, love, I’ll whisper that it’s all right…

Even though you won’t believe me,

I’ll still hold you close.

When it’s too much to bear, when all you feel is the white-hot pain,

Don’t forget that I’m still here; I promise you that I’ll keep you safe.
