The stillness in the air is strangely comfortable, it feels right when he kisses Louis once again, a little more than gentle, as though he’s making sure this isn’t a dream.

Harry feels like he’s falling in the most clichéd way, like he can’t breathe but then he can-easily, feeling more alive than he’s ever felt. He wants to keep it safe, he wants to hide away this beautiful thing between them, keep it to himself for a long, long time. He wishes that he could string together all the words he has in his head, make it just right but he always ends up fumbling over what he has to say.  But Louis laughs, his eyes crinkling up and he pulls Harry just a little more closely and whispers, “I know.”

And Harry doesn’t doubt that even for a second.

Three years later when they come back to Harry’s house in Cheshire, when it seems like it’s the night they first kissed, Harry doesn’t hesitate to say, “Marry me, Lou.”

A heartbeat of silence.

Then they’re kissing and even though Louis doesn’t say anything, Harry knows for sure this time.

Yes.”

When they’re saying their vows Harry doesn’t fumble over the words-it’s perfect and just right like he always wanted them to be.
