We'll let ourselves fall

Delicately we balance ourselves,

Careful of the jagged edges, the bruises that still hurt.

Hesitant touches, words that have long lost their meaning,

Swirl around us, the cracks becoming just a little wider.

Bound together by broken promises,

Bound together by something that was once between us,

We drift in and out of each other’s spaces.

Fragile, that’s the way we are now,

One wrong move and it could all crash down,

Bringing down with it our barely held together world.

Shadows of what we were, echoes of the memories that we once held dear,

Keep us here, holding on for something that’s long gone…

There’s no question of a delicate balance,

No longer careful of those jagged edges, we revel in those bruises now,

We try to bring it all down, wishing it would crash down swiftly and painlessly.

There’s nothing to hold on, our world will soon be a pile of ashes,

As it burns bright and fierce…

The shadows melt away into the darkness, the echoes are faint,

Maybe we can finally be free.

As everything we once held dear, breaks apart around us…
