~chapter 7~
"Um. Who told you that?" I asked. My heart couldn't stop beating. How does he know?
"Never mind. That doesn't matter."
He tried changing the subject.
I was debating whether to let it slide or continue it.
"So. How's Magcon going?" I said.
It was pretty awkward being around Shawn after what happened.
I knew he didn't want to be here.
"Stop." He told me.
"Excuse me?" I was offended.
"Just stop. You broke my heart an expect everything between me and you to be normal." He argued.
"I'm sorry, Shawn. I can't take that back nor can you!" I defended myself.
"Don't you understand that I love you, Maddie!" He blurted out.
I stopped. He loved me? I thought he only liked me, not love.
"I'm sorry, Shawn. I love you too." I told him. And I meant those words.
"I don't love you anymore, Maddie! You are just a person to me now." He told me.
I began to shed tears and sobbed.
"I'm sorry, Shawn." I told him one last time.
He reached into his pocket and dozens of pieces of notes came out.
He put them on the table.
"What is this?" I asked him.
"Go ahead." He points his head to the notes.
I open a note and it read:
{I love you}
I opened another:
{I love you}
I looked up at him.
"What do these mean?" I asked him.
"These are all the times I have wanted to say 'I love you' to you. Like on our walk on the beach, I was going to say it but never did so I wrote it down. I never missed or lost one. I love'd' you, Maddie." He emphasis on the 'd'.
I shed another tear and counted all the notes: 57 notes.
I looked up at him and watched his sad face. I noticed his puffy eyes as if he was crying earlier.
He put on his coat and walked over to me.
He kissed me softly and left, leaving me breathless and in pain.
