I was cleaning up what remained of the party when Sonny came back into my apartment.
"Hey, I thought you could use some help," he shrugged his jacket off and hung it up before grabbing some dishes.
"You really don't have to, Sonny. I got it," I tried to tell him but he wouldn't listen.
"It's no problem."
So we talked about work while we cleaned. There was a knock on my door so I went to go answer it. It was Cole.
"Oh my God, I'm late aren't I?," he was out of breath.
"Yes, you really are. Nice costume though," I replied. "Where did you get those boots! How do they look so good on you!"
He was dressed up as a hooker as he said he would, short red suede dress and black fishnet stockings. With these wicked red knee high boots and makeup to match his outfit.
"Thanks, I was pulled over by a cop cuz of this outfit," he laughed as he tossed his fake blonde hair out of his face. "I told him "you can't afford me honey".
I laughed and let him in. "No you didn't!"
"I did. He was so red in the face I thought he was gonna piss himself. I'll send you the link to where I bought 'em. Who's this," Cole looked Sonny up and down.
"My partner at work, Sonny this is my friend Cole."
Sonny gave him a warm smile.
"Nice to meet you, I've heard amazing things about you," Cole winked at Sonny so I shoved him.
Sonny was a bit flushed. "I've heard about you as well."
Cole turned around to face me with a hand on his heart. "You do care about me!"
I laughed. "Of course."
Cole gave me a hug before taking a seat on the couch. He pulled out a piece of leftover pizza from the box. "So what did I miss?"
"A great party. I'll put on a movie for us to watch and we'll have a drink," I put the movie Halloween on. I was in the kitchen when Sonny entered.
"Your friend seems nice," he smiled.
"He really is," I grabbed us some glasses and made a rum and coke, something me and Cole both had in common. "Wanna drink?"
"No, thanks. I was kinda wondering if you could give me a ride to my place. Rollins headed out, she was my ride. I don't want to trouble you," he looked at me with those eyes.
"Of course, Sonny. Let me get my keys," I grabbed my purse and pulled my red jacket back on. "Hey, Cole, I'm gonna take this guy home wanna come?"
"Sure," he strutted over to us. "Take him home, gotcha."
I gave him a look before locking the door behind me.
"Wait don't you have a bike? How are you gonna take all of us?," Sonny asked.
"It's good. She's got a bitchin' car we can go in," Cole said already making his way downstairs.
"Yeah, I had to leave my bike at my ma's over the weekend since it's getting too cold out for it," I talked as we walked downstairs.
"That's nice, what kind of car ya got," Sonny walked in step with me.
"A 67 Chevy Camaro."
He stopped dead in his tracks. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah."
He practically ran outside to go see it. It was dark green in color, sleek and dangerous especially in this city.
"Can I drive?," he asked once he saw it.
"Nope."
"How'd you get this car?," Sonny asked on the drive to his apartment.
"An old co-worker was selling it so I offered to buy it. Fixed up what needed fixing and got a fresh coat of paint. Been with me since I was a beat cop," I smiled down at my dash.
"That's really cool, Maia," Sonny gave me a smile.
I felt Cole nudge me and when I looked back at him in the rearview mirror he was giving me a thumbs up and a big toothy grin.
I walked Sonny to his front door and said good night. He looked like he wanted to say something but he didn't. Cole and I went to a few bars after that and he stayed at my place since he didn't want to walk back to his. "It's scary out there, especially tonight."
"I feel ya."
The next day at work I was doing paperwork, fighting through the headache that threatened to grow. Sonny came in with Fin and I could see he was flushed, Fin had a big smile on his face.
"Garcia," he greeted me.
"Hey, Fin."
"Fun night?," he asked.
"You could say that," I groaned when my phone suddenly went off. "SVU, this is Detective Garcia."
"I wanted to report possible abuse," the women on the other end talked nervously.
