The next morning I got a call from Liv asking me if I was ok to go back to work. I told her I was but that I needed to drop my sister off at the airport first. Liv said it was ok but to come in to work right after.
I was bummed that El was leaving so soon but she has a very busy schedule ahead of her. Maybe I can request a few days off of work in December to go spend some time with her in California.
"Text me when you land," I gave her her bags.
"I will. Text me updates about Yara and call me. I miss you."
"I miss you too, El. I'll text you when I can about the case."
We hugged goodbye and she walked to her gate. I tried not to cry as I walked back to my car but I did. My phone pinged with a text from Liv once I pulled out of the parking garage.
Liv: change of plans meet at this address.
When I put the address into maps my chest started to hurt. It was the hotel Yara was staying at.

I raced down the hall to where Liv was standing, waiting for my arrival. "What happened?"
Liv looked over at me, concern on her face. "We got a call from the hotel, when they searched her purse for an ID, they found your card inside of her wallet."
I couldn't, didn't, want to believe what I was hearing. "Can I see the body?"
Liv nodded.
I walked into the room and Melinda was already there talking to one of the other cops on scene.
"Fluids are present, our victim was raped then stabbed," Warner removed the sheet from the body for us to see.
It was Yara.

When I had the chance I texted El the news about Yara. She wouldn't get the text until the plane took off but at least she'll know.
"When the squad gets here tell them what happened. Get them up to speed," Liv was looking over the case file I wrote out last night.
"Got it."
"Also I'll be your partner for this case," Liv let me know before heading into her office to take a call.
"Sounds good," I called after her. I really wish we weren't, not on this case where I felt responsible for Yara's death.

I told Finn and Rollins when they walked in what happened last night from the attack to writing out the report.
"Poor girl," Rollins shook her head.
"You helped her out when she was scared, Garcia. You did good," Fin nodded to me.
"Thanks," still feeling guilty about what happened I went over to my desk to try to contact her family. I should have asked her to stay at my apartment or asked a cop to wait outside her door. Something to help her feel safe, something I could've done to stop the perp, anything to prevent what happened.

Carisi walked in a few minutes later, his presence helped take my mind off of the case for a second.
"Best chicken soup, right?," Sonny gave me a smile when he noticed me speaking clearly.
"I don't know my mom makes a pretty mean chicken soup," I shrugged, smiling. "Your mom's soup helped a lot, thanks."
"She likes to hear good things about her cooking so I'll let her know she has another fan."
I gave him laugh. "You gotta let me make you my ma's chicken soup sometime, so you can see what she's up against."
He agreed. "Since the weather is getting colder, it's the perfect time."
It's a date. I thought to myself as I made a list of what I would need from the store.

Liv called me in to her office and told me to get ready. We were going down to the show to get the guest list.

When we arrived people were running in and out of the building.
"They're probably heading out to Paris," I told Liv.
"So soon?," Liv questioned as we walked towards the car that was parked waiting. We called ahead for the list, stopping the person in charge from leaving.
I nodded. "My sister is headed there right now, it's the next location of the show."
We met up with the fashion designer's assistant, Kay, who was in charge of the guest list. She was pacing back and forth by the car when we saw her, losing her patience.
"Please, detectives, I need to make it to my flight on time," she had her coat on, pulling it close to her while she talked, anxious.
"We will be well on our way once we get the guest list, Ms. Kay," Liv told her.
She huffed and pulled out the list from her purse. "Here. Here. May I go now?"
"In a second, it would save us a lot of time if you could point out which guests on this list are men?," I stood close to her while she grabbed the paper from my hands. She was sweating from the looks of it, despite being outside.
Kay took out a pen and circled several people on the list. "There. Is that all?"
We nodded and she jumped into her car. The driver was waiting for our ok though so he didn't take off.
"She knows who did it," I told Liv quietly.
"How do you know?"
"She's sweating, eyes looking everywhere except at us, and she circled the names of a few female guests to throw us off," I showed Liv the list.
She smirked. "We should bring her in for questioning. Good work, Garcia."
