We had to move quickly for the severity of this case, rush orders on everything. Dodds was talking to the press about the young man who still hasn't been ID'd. He asked if anybody with a missing boy between the ages of fifteen and twenty, white male with brown hair to please come to the precinct to identify the body. This was going to cause a lot of problems for the parents that do come in and it's not their child. I'd hate the thought of giving any family false hope about their missing child.
One couple did show up eventually, Liv and Dodds went down with them to see if it was their child.
"Garcia, you were right. Forensics didn't find anything on the note," Fin spoke up when he came into the squad room.
I nodded and went back to scanning footage. I was looking at the camera on the corner of Mr. Osbourne's house, pulling up the license plates of passing cars. So far I didn't find anything until one small car turned onto his block with no plates on it. It was a small white vehicle and it looked pretty banged up from what I could tell. I printed out a few pictures and handed them to Sonny.
"This car turned onto the street where our first suspect was," I pointed to the picture.
"It doesn't have plates, though," he shook his head, getting frustrated.
"Yeah, but now we know what kind of car he drives and we can cross-check them with the rest of our suspects."
Sonny agreed and we got back to work.
Liv came back with bad news and told us that it wasn't their son. She also told us that we needed to take a break.
"We've been working non-stop so go out and get some lunch," she grabbed her jacket and started to head out.
I wanted to stay and keep looking over our suspects but Sonny pulled me away.
"Come on, Maia. I'll take you to that sandwich shop I keep telling you about," he pulled that sweet smile that I couldn't resist.
"Alright."
We pulled up to the place and got out of the car. When I was outside though I felt someone's eyes on me, sending a chill down my spine despite the winter air. I looked around and didn't see a small white car or anyone who looked like our suspect. Sonny pulled my hand and led me inside. My heart skipped a bit.
"You feel that?," Sonny whispered down to me.
"Eyes on your back?," I asked.
He looked back to see if he would spot someone. "He's following us."
I called Liv to tell her.
"What is it, Garcia?," she asked. I could hear glasses clinking and I knew she was already out at lunch.
"Carisi and I are being followed," I told her quietly so no one would be alarmed.
Sonny was ordering to go while I spoke to Liv.
"How can you be sure?," she asked.
"Do you ever feel eyes on your back but they make you feel cold? That's what's going on."
She didn't say anything, probably thinks I'm crazy. "Yeah, I know the feeling. Get back to the precinct if you can right away."
"We will," I hung up and looked to Sonny.
He grabbed the brown paper bags from the cashier and gestured his head to the exit. We were going to take the longer way to get back to our car, to make sure we weren't still being followed. We walked in silence, observing our surroundings for anyone suspicious. When we got to our car though there was a note. I couldn't feel anyone staring at me when I grabbed it so that meant they were long gone.
"What does it say?," Sonny asked when we got inside the car. I told him to take us to the precinct as fast as he could.
Too late detective.
Followed by a picture of our newest victim.
