We all went out for dinner after the hospital trip. It was really nice my family got to know my work family. My mom was worried about me but I talked to her and told her that it was a one time thing and she shouldn't worry. As long as she doesn't know about the fading bruise on my neck, she thinks I've been hurt twice. If she knew, I hope it doesn't come to that.
As for Joe, he took a deal despite his lawyer's advice. He would get twenty-five to life in an upstate fancy jail. He would've gotten a lesser sentence but stabbing a cop did not help his case. His family pulled in a lot of money for him to get his own cell and everything else to make his "stay" comfortable.
The sick bastard confessed to killing other women but refused to say where and who they were. CSI helped our case by checking out his house, they noticed in the shed there was a shovel and his backyard had fake grass over it. So they were able to find a body there. As for the hill Joe was standing on when we found him, there was another body. It could be his first but we're still working on possibly more bodies to find.
We have three victims in total.
After trial he said that if they wanted anymore information out of him he would only speak to me. Typical.
The wound on my arm healed up nicely but there was a faint scar there, nothing I couldn't cover up. I didn't tell El what happened but then again I didn't have to, my cousin did. I got an earful to say the least.
I drove home after a tiring day and Zen, as if sensing everything that went down these couple of weeks, ran up to me. I picked her up, heading to the couch, she gave me a few kisses before settling down in my lap. I was dozing off when there was a knock on my door. I picked Zen up and laid her down in my room before walking over to answer it.
Sonny was at the door.
"Hey, what brings you by," I let him in.
"I just wanted to make sure you were doing ok," he ran a hand through his hair.
"Don't lie, Dominick. I can tell you came here for something else," I sat down on the couch and patted the space next to me.
He chuckled softly before taking a seat. "I just keep thinking about what your mom said the other week."
I shook my head. "She was upset, she was ranting off to anyone who would listen."
"Yeah, but I should've been there. I'm your partner we're supposed to look out for each other."
I looked at him. "Sonny, you know why you weren't there. Liv asked you and Rollins to go to the beach house. Fin was with me when we followed the car. It's not your fault."
He shook his head. "Still, I feel responsible."
I shushed him and put my hand on his. "Don't do this to yourself, Sonny. What matters now is that you be there for me in the future."
I looked at him and he looked at me searching for doubt in my words or on my face. But he wouldn't find it. He nodded slowly, a smile on his face. I rubbed his hand before standing up. "You wanna watch a movie. Fair warning I might fall asleep halfway through."
He laughed a bit. "Sure."
True to my word I fell asleep, my head rested on his shoulder.
*Sonny's POV*
She looked so beautiful, asleep on my shoulder. Once I was certain she was out I laid her down on the couch and pulled a blanket over her. I gave the pup a quick scratch behind the ears and headed out. I walked out, making sure the door was locked, and drove home. This girl was driving me crazy, I couldn't sleep that night. I kept thinking about her resilience, her strength, and her lips.
