Their father was giving us a hard time when we talked to him. He asked for a lawyer and said that the girls were fine.
"I would never hurt my daughters," he said feigning innocence.
I wanted to slug him but I held my ground. "They have bruises on their bodies, how do you explain that?"
"Those damn boyfriends they got, I bet. You should be talking to them."
We asked the girls earlier, they aren't seeing anyone.
I heard a knock on the window and a guy in a cheap suit bursted through the door.
"Stop talking, I'm here to defend Mr. Fred Nerros. Anymore questions because I'd like to speak to my client?," he put his briefcase on top of the table.
Sonny and I walked into Liv's office where she was watching the interview with Barba and Fin.
"This guy lawyered up?," Barba looked surprised.
"I'm shocked he knew what a lawyer was?," I said this under my breath.
Sonny chuckled a little after he heard my comment. "What now, Lou?"
Liv looked at the dad through the two way mirror. "We wait and see what the lawyer has to offer him."
There was a knock on the door, it was Rollins. "The girls have something they want to say to Garcia."
I walked, more like ran, quickly to the room they were at. I knocked before entering.
"Come in," I heard Camila speak up.
"What's wrong," I asked worried.
"We have someone who could possibly help with your case."
I sat down across from them. "Ok, who?"
Camila nodded to Andreea and held her hand. "Tell her."
"My ex-boyfriend, Ren, after school one day he decided to drop me off at home. I was about to go inside when our dad showed up from work. I told Ren to run but he didn't understand. He hurt Ren real bad," she started to sob.
"Where can we find him?," I asked after Andreea catched her breath.
"He moved away to Buffalo. His parents wanted to know why he had a black eye and busted lip, so he lied and told them he was being bullied."
Liv and Rollins left to go talk to Ren and his parents about what happened. Hopefully he'll come in and testify against Fred Nerros. From the girl's school we got Ren's records as well, the last report was the reason as to why his parents pulled him out of school in the middle of the year. It stated that it was because of a fight, and bullying.
I went for a run to the nearest burger joint to get Fin, Sonny, the girls, and myself something to eat. I was still nauseous from today's events but I needed to eat, I couldn't let every case I worked affect me though this one was different. I gave everyone their orders and took a seat at the table with Fin and Sonny.
"These aren't too bad," Fin commented.
"Yeah, the fries could be better though," Sonny looked at them with questionable eyes.
"That's true," I took a hesitant bite of my burger, I don't want to have to throw it up.
"So I hear you got a nice ride," Fin broke my thoughts with a smile.
"Yeah, it's a great car but to fill it up is a bitch."
Sonny laughed. "I bet."
Fin got a call so he answered it.
"Liv?"
She talked to him but I couldn't hear what was going on.
"Ok, see you soon. They got the kid and he says he'll testify."
The next day, Barba asked me to be there when he prepped the girls for court. "You seem to have a way with kids, ever thought about being a counselor?"
I smiled. "Yeah, that's my future job in case I get injured too badly to go back to SVU."
He looked at me. "Seriously?"
"Yeah, you gotta have a backup just in case."
He eyed me warily.
We went through everything with the girls from how to answer questions and what to do when their father was in the room.
"He won't hurt you in here, he knows that. If he tries anything there will be guards on both sides of the room to stop him," Barba reassured them.
"Will you be there, detective?," Camila asked me.
"Yes."
They asked questions and they answered ours honestly. By the time we finished they were both confident in their answers. I got a call from Liv when we were on our way to the precinct.
"Yeah, Lieutenant?," I had her on speaker.
"Let the girls know that their aunt has arrived."
I heard them sigh with relief when they heard this.
