I shook my head. "I don't know? Maybe your nose isn't what it used to be, ya know with your age and all."
He barked out a laugh. "Don't avoid the question, detective. My nose is perfectly functional as well as other things."
"Don't make me vomit, old man," I spat.
He wiggled his eyebrows at me. "Tell me what is wrong with you. That's all I ask."
"There's nothing wrong with me."
He tisked. "There's something wrong with everyone, dear. I've met many people in my life without the scent of fear and you know what they had in common?"
I took out my gun. "Get down and shut your fucking mouth before I do something I won't regret."
He shook his head at me and grabbed the trigger button. "Go ahead and shoot but then I blow this place up and your colleagues down below."
Shit. I could just shoot his hand off. I aimed my gun but his finger grazed the button.
"Are you willing to risk their lives for some secret you're keeping?"
I put my gun down and into my back pocket. "Why me? If you're going to be talking my damn ear off tell me why you choose me of all people?"
He sat back, amusement playing on his lips. "You're new to the department. Easily expendable. I've been waiting for a new recruit to come along and here you are. No one would care if I took you."
I eyed him, the truth pouring off of his words. "You're wrong, I have my bio family and my work family."
He disagreed. "No one cares, detective. You'll see when I kill you."
"So then what are you waiting for, asshole? Do it and see what happens?," I poked at him.
He was going to talk when sirens started wailing in the distance. The cavalry. I smiled at him as he went back to his perch, he dropped the button down next to him. I got up slowly and walked carefully over to him. I reached out to grab it but he was fast enough to act, swinging his elbow back into my face. I staggered back, holding my possibly broken nose in my hands.
"I told you to have a seat, detective," he pressed one of the buttons, activating a bomb right where the backup had parked. The truck exploded and sent a wave of fire all around. I heard a few screams and knew that it was my fault.
"Now, why don't we circle back to our first conversation," he was shooting off his rifle at people trying to make their way to us. "The people I met without the stench of fear were abused as a child. They learned how to take a beating and grew stronger. Coincidentally, some of them turned out to be abusers themselves."
I looked down at the radio strapped to my vest, knowing they would be listening. "Listen, asshole, if you think I'm just gonna tell you about my personal life you've got another thing coming."
"And you've got another bomb coming if you don't talk," he held up the trigger button.
I sighed and turned off my radio. "What do you want to know?"

*Sonny's POV*
"I don't know what happened her radio just went off," Liv was shouting now. "Carisi, have you made it to the building yet?"
"Copy, Lieutenant. I just made it and I'm on my way up," I spoke through my own radio.
"Be careful," she spoke up again.
I walked carefully up the steps, avoiding a few trip wires on the way. I could make out Maia's voice as I neared the shooter's hideout.
"He would hit us and yell at us, whose father doesn't nowadays," I heard her say roughly.
"That's not it, detective. There's something else your not telling me. Daddy was a big ol scary guy, what else he do?," I saw the killer walk closer to her. I pointed my gun at him and took a shot to his leg. True to my aim it hit him in his calf but he turned and pointed a gun at me. I heard a shot go off and felt something bite me in the shoulder. I saw Maia tackle the guy and the ceiling of the building as I fell.

*Garcia's POV*
I kicked the trigger pad away from Arthur and cuffed him but not before grabbing him by his hair and smashing his face down on the concrete, knocking him out. "Asshole."
I dragged his body down the steps, pulling him away from any explosives or the gun. Once I made sure he was out cold I ran over to where Sonny's body was lying. "We need back up," I shouted through my radio.
"We're on our way," I heard Liv speak up.
I crouched down next to Sonny, his eyes full of pity. I avoided his gaze to look at his wound and press down on it. "You're an idiot," I said playfully.
"I couldn't let you get hurt, again," he said looking up at me. "But it looks like I was too late."
He meant my nose that stopped gushing blood but there was still some on my face. I saw his eyelids flutter and panic rose through me.
"Stay with me, Sonny. Help is on the way you gotta stay awake for me," I shook him a little.
He nodded. "I'll do whatever you want me to do, Maia."
I smiled down at him. "I want you to keep talking, babe."
He sighed. "We're not so different you know, my dad wasn't the nicest guy either."
I froze. "You heard?"
He nodded. "Just a little bit but maybe after this you can tell me about it. If you want to."
Tears were starting to form behind my eyes. "Maybe I will."
"Sounds like a date."
"I am not gonna talk to you about my traumatic childhood on our first date," I shot back.
He chuckled. "Second date then." I heard his breaths come out slower just as back up arrived.
"We have to get him to a bus," I wiped at my face.
"You get his head, I'll get his feet," Fin nodded to me.
"I've got the perp," Rollins spoke up.
