The court date had arrived and there was a huge ball in the pit of my stomach. I talked to the girls and made sure they were confident enough to stand trial.
"We got this, detective," Camila looked to her sister.
"Yes we do," Andreea grabbed her sister's hand, confidence pouring off of the both of them.

Minutes in to the trial and my leg wouldn't stop bouncing, Sonny asked if I was alright.
"Just nervous," I told him. I was anxious as hell but I couldn't let it show, too much. The girls did a great job up there and so did Ren. Their "father's" lawyer made some ridiculous accusations but Barba shot them all down.

We were outside of the courtroom waiting for the verdict.
"I like our chances," Barba nodded to me.
"Good," I said drinking some water to settle my stomach.
"You ok?," he asked.
"I think I'm gonna catch the flu," I lied.
"Why don't you have a seat," he led me to a bench.
"Thanks," I really needed to get a handle on how I was acting around everyone. What if someone says something to Liv, she could doubt my ability to handle these cases. "A neighbor sneezed on me on my way out of the building. That could be it."
He shook his head. "That's terrible."
"Can you sue him for me," I joked.
"Maybe, for assault," he chuckled.
Liv rounded the corner and I stood up, reading her expression quickly. "The jury is back."

Guilty. It was like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. I was so happy that these girls got justice. They both hugged me before they left and thanked me for the constant support I gave them throughout the trial. I gave them my card and let them know that if they ever needed anything they could call me anytime. I wanted these girls to know that I was in their corner.
After this long case I needed a drink to calm my nerves. I was at a bar when I got a call back from the person I needed to talk to the most. I paid for the drink and downed the rest of it before heading outside.
I smiled at the caller ID. "Hey."
"Hey, I'm sorry if I woke you. I don't know what time it is in New York!," my amazing and talented sister, Elena.
I grinned as I started making my way to my apartment. "You heard?"
"Of course I did, I wish you would've called sooner."
I sighed. "Ever since I got the job I've been so busy. There's almost a case everyday and they take almost a few weeks to solve."
"Ah. Still."
I smiled thinking about her and what we've been through. Which made me think about the case. Tears started to fall down my face. "So. How. How have you been?" I heard shuffling on the other end.
"What's wrong, love?"
"Nothing. You know this job has its ups and downs," I wiped at my nose with my sleeve.
"Tell me what's wrong."
She always knew when I was lying.
"Hey, why don't you come visit me sometime? I'll try to get a few days off, we can catch up, I'll take you sightseeing?"
She sighed. "I was actually heading that way tomorrow. Big fashion show there and they want me!"
I hollered. "That's awesome. You can stay at my place if you want. We can have those late night chats we used to have when we were little."
She sniffed, tears possibly forming in her eyes. "I would love that."
"Can't wait, El. Text me when you're about to land, I'll pick you up from the airport."
"This is gonna be great. And, Mai, you better talk to me when I get there. Tell me what's wrong because I know when something's up."
I nodded. "Ok, see you soon."
We said our goodbyes and hung up. I was in my room when I thought about how I was gonna get a few days off from work? Hopefully Liv will understand.
