"Eli's ex was so angry about the hormone treatments that he raped and beat him close to death?," Sonny was having a hard time grasping this.
"I've heard of fathers raping their lesbian daughters to make them straight. This is a different act but with the same intentions. To make them their version of normal," I was angry, Sonny could tell so he didn't press me with questions. We all held some anger for the suspect of this case.
Liv and Rollins went to the ex-boyfriend's house to see if they could get some answers out of Brian. Carisi and myself were at the hospital still, waiting for a guard to come to relieve us. Fin was checking on the progress of the rape kit. We saw the guard and stood to leave. I let the parents know that if Eli remembers anything to call and let us know.
"You're really good with kids, did you know that?," Sonny asked me while we waited for our coffee.
"Yeah, ever since I was little, kids seemed to take to me. As I grew older they wanted to talk to me, show me their new action figures or dolls. They looked up to me so I listened to them instead of dismissing them."
He grabbed our orders and handed me mine. "Kids need older kids to look up to and listen to what they have to say. Wish I had someone like you to talk to at that age."
"Me too."
We looked at each other, our past clearly written on our faces. The way to the precinct was quiet but not awkward. I felt a bit relieved for sharing a little piece of myself with someone.
We walked to our joined desk and got to work. So far I learned that Brian is a star athlete and has made an extravagant show of him prom-posing to a girl. I pulled the video up on the TV to show everyone once they arrived. I also put his picture up on the board, suspect 1.

"Will you, Jess, go to prom with me," Brian shouted from across the football field to the head cheerleader, Jess. Typical high school drama movie if you ask me. There was a band playing and people doing backflips, it was grand and despicable. Eli was on the bleachers, watching everything. Once Brian asked the question he left.
"What a jerk," Sonny shook his head.
"He obviously knew Eli would be there. He looks right at him," Fin spoke up as he watched the video.
"Rollins and Liv are on their way to talk to him right now," I read the text Liv sent me. I sent her the video on her phone since they were out. "This doesn't look good," I turned my laptop to them to show them Brian's Facebook page. It showed him posting homophobic slurs and hate against the LGBTQ+ community.
"He has to be our guy," Sonny spoke up.
I sent Liv a link to his page so that she knew what we could hold against him as we continued to build a case against Brian. There was a lot of evidence clearly marking him as the perpetrator.

Liv and Rollins came through the doors of the squad room in a rush.
"What happened?," I looked at their concerned faces.
"He's gone, left on a camping trip with his friends," Rollins rolled her eyes not believing a word of the excuse.
More reason to get a warrant for his arrest. "He has to be guilty."
"Garcia and Carisi, I want you two to go back to the hospital in case Brian decides to visit Eli. Rollins, Fin, and I are going to go down to the campsite to see if we can still catch this kid," Liv said this all in a rush. We left once she gave the order.
