Sonny and I both ran into the squad room with the latest from our killer.
"Bad news, he's taken another," I tossed the copy of the note to Rollins. I sent the real one to forensics to scan and see if there was anything noticeable in the background of the photo.
"Did you call Liv?," Fin grabbed the note from Rollins.
"Yeah, she said she's on her way," I took a seat at my desk to continue the work I was doing earlier, lunch completely forgotten. I was looking at the vehicles our suspects drove when Liv walked in.
Fin handed her the note and she looked at it then at me. "It says Detective. Only one. I think he's talking to you Garcia."
I rolled my eyes. "Of course."
Everyone was starting to get concerned.
"I want to know why?," Chief Dodds walked into the squad room. "Why you, of all people?"
I thought about it while he talked.
"Lieutenant Benson, I would understand. She's in the public eye and has been targeted before. The rest of the squad has been here for quite some time. You, though, are a new member," he turned to me.
"That's why," I said turning back to my desk. "Since I'm new here, it won't be a big deal if I'm targeted." I'm easily replaced.
"Well it does matter, Garcia. We're a family and we take care of our own," Sonny looked down at me. I looked up at him and smiled.
"It's true. We're gonna catch this guy and we'll let him know what happens when you threaten one of our own," Fin looked serious and I felt the truth in his words.
Liv and Rollins shook their heads in agreement.

"Since it seems that you are the one he's fixated on I suggest you spend the night here. You can stay in the lounge," Liv spoke up after Dodds left. "You can go to your apartment to get a few change of clothes and your dog. Take Carisi with you just in case the killer decides to be bold."
As if on cue the security camera app started ringing on my phone. I grabbed my phone and opened the app. I saw someone leaving my front door and heading down the stairs. My heart quickened. Zen.
I stormed out of the precinct, ignoring the shouts and questions from the squad. I jumped into my car and raced home. If that bastard hurt my dog I will go John Wick on his ass.

I ran up the stairs to my apartment and unlocked the door with shaky hands. "Please, God. Please, don't take her from me," I said praying. I never pray but for my beautiful dog I will pray to every deity in the world. I burst through the door and started to shout her name. She wasn't on the couch so I ran to the bathroom where she sometimes sleeps on the bathroom rug. She wasn't there so I started crying, fear rising in my throat. "Zen, baby girl! Where are you?" I ran into my room and she wasn't in my bed or her own. "Zen!"
I heard whimpering inside of my closet, fear taking over my whole body. I walked over slowly, my heart racing and my breathing coming in faster. "Zen?" I opened it the rest of the way. She was hiding under a pile of my clothes she managed to pull down on herself. I reached out, shaking, scared to see if she was harmed. She jumped out of the pile and ran into my arms. She started to lick my face. I sighed with relief when I noticed her body was ok. I heard people calling my name from outside my door.
"You scared me, Zen," I whispered to her. She was whining and still giving me kisses as if sensing my distress. I pulled her in tighter.
Sonny burst into my room, gun raised. He looked down at us and put his gun away. "She alright?"
I nodded. "She hid in the closet but I don't think the killer got in."
"Smart dog," Fin said in the other room.
I got up, still holding her in my arms. "There was a note on the floor. Did you guys read it?"
Sonny shook his head. We walked back into the living room where Liv, Rollins, and Fin were opening the packet the killer left under my door.
"What does it say?," I asked.
Liv shook her head and handed it to me before heading out. "He's growing impatient."
I looked down at it, turning angry.
Hurry, detective. Time is running out and I'm getting thirsty for more.
There were two pictures this time with the note: one of me from today heading inside of the precinct and a photo of his new victim.
