The girls and myself were being held in the little cell back at the precinct while they talked to the twins. I was resting my head in Pearl's lap, trying to hold on to our friendship until they find out about my real job.
Sonny stomped over and unlocked the door before snapping his fingers at me. "You in the red come with me!"
I put on a smirk. "Wanna pat me down, officer? I think there maybe something dangerous under my coat," I started to strip but he pulled me through.
I heard the girls laughing behind me.
"I'll show you a good time, honey bun," I whispered to him when I passed Rollins putting cuffs on Tito.
"Be quiet," Sonny strained.
I smiled to myself as he pulled me in to the interrogation room. Once we were inside though he pulled me in for a hug.
"Missed ya, gorgeous," he whispered.
"Missed you too, handsome."
Liv, Fin, and Rollins walked in a few minutes later and patted me on the back.
"Good job, Garcia," Fin complemented.
"Thanks. I just have a question, why is it that I get hurt on this job but not an undercover one?," I joked.Daniels and his boss have been following this case for awhile but never had any success in bringing the twins in wanted to interview me themselves. They asked me to recall everything that happened and anything else they should know. I told them about the basement and Viviana. They hadn't known about her so they took it into consideration. I also had her confession on the necklace, it was still recording when she pulled a gun on us.
"Good job, detective. You should think about switching fields," Captain Nox shook my hand.
"Thanks but I like it here."
They were about to leave when I spoke up again. "Can I ask for a favor?"
They paused and turned to me.
Liv who was with me the entire time gave me a look. "What is it, Garcia?"
"The girls, they're innocent in all of this. Those two would threaten them into selling those drugs. They shouldn't go to jail for those three scumbags."
They were stunned but thought about my plea. "If they testify against the three perps then yes, I believe they'll get off free," they nodded to me then left the room.
I sighed and leaned back in my seat then stood up quickly. They'll be interrogating them right now, telling them about me.
"Garcia," Liv shouted to me but I was already moving.
I saw two officers walking the girls into a room to make the deal with them.
When Pearl saw me she stomped over to me and pushed me back. "How? How could you!"
I started rambling about my job and that I didn't think I would find friends in this but she walked away not listening. I walked towards them but felt someone tug on my arm.
"Let them go, Maia. Liv wants to talk to you," Sonny spoke to me.
I shook my head. The rest of the girls looked up at me then away.
From across the room I noticed Viviana talking to West, Daniels' partner, pretty closely. She was tugging on his tie and he was smiling down at her. I looked over to Daniels as he headed over to me, I nodded over at the pair. Once Daniels saw them together his expression took on that of betrayal. Liv called me again, before I left to go talk to her I saw Daniels talking to his captain."What happened while you worked undercover?," Liv talked to me.
I was looking at the cup of coffee in my hands, avoiding her gaze. "Can I get my phone please, Lieutenant? I need to call my mom and make sure she's ok."
She pulled out my phone but didn't hand it over. "First, tell me what happened?"
I took a sip of coffee before I began. "I made friends. I got attached, just like I said I would when you first told me about the job opportunity."
She looked at me. "Do you need to take some time off? Do you need to talk this out?"
"No."
She looked weary but stood to go to her office.
"This job was a great opportunity, I would like to thank you, Lieutenant," but I don't wanna do this again any time soon.
She stopped. "Go home and get some rest, Garcia. We'll call you if something comes up."
I stood to leave, looking at all of the messages my mom and El have sent me the past month. Liv tried to talk to them but they were so worried.
"Hey, good news, the girls have taken the offer and plan on talking before a judge," Sonny came over to me.
I nodded, hiding my face while I walked to the elevators.
"What's wrong, Maia?"
"Nothing. I need to call my mom. See you tomorrow, Sonny."
I rushed through to the doors and looked up at Sonny before they closed. He took a step towards me but the elevator was already closing. I cried silently in the back of the squad car they sent to take me home.I called my mom and told her that I worked this really big case and it was a lot of fun. Telling her what she wanted to hear, lying to her. She was worried about me but she knew that I would be ok. I even called my friend Cole who had sent me several messages as well. I told him I worked a big case and he took that to mean that I infiltrated a huge drug ring and took down their kingpin. He was always breaking the tension in a room or joking, one of the things that made us fast friends.
When I called Ella though I told her the truth about the job. How I made friends with these amazing girls and how I basically lied to them and broke their hearts. She soothed me over the phone and told me that I had a job to do. If they cared about me they would understand the risk I took to help them. Despite the advice from El, none of it helped. Zen was home when I arrived, Liv probably dropped her off early. Zen whined when she saw me. I held her in my arms and laid down next to her on my bed.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you, sweet girl," I rubbed behind her ears as I talked. She gave me a kiss before settling in my arms.
"Seriously, you're sleeping? We haven't seen each other in almost a month!"
She was already asleep, typical. I was still crying a bit when there was a knock on my door. I pulled a sweater on and went to answer it. Sonny stood there.
"I know it's late but-"
I jumped into his arms before he could finish. "Would you like to come in?"
He laughed a bit. "Sure, gorgeous."
