The four had ventured far outside the territory. They found an abandoned fox's den to rest in for a while. The scent was still fresh, but there was also the scent of rot along with it. They never found the dead body of the fox or the foxes. They must have already left or been eaten.
"Mother, I'll go and get some cobwebs. I've learned enough from the medicine cat back in the clan to treat small wounds." The dark grey shecat said softly before running off to the woods.
"Be careful my darling! There are dangerous creatures in these woods. We no longer have the clan to protect us." The light brown shecat meowed to the young dark grey shecat.
"Don't worry Ferretwillow! I'll be okay! I know how to protect myself too. Those pesky foxes and badgers have nothing on my climbing ability!" The young shecat meowed with a big smile. She ran off to the woods quickly not even worrying about all the mice and other prey that she might have scared away.
The dark furred shecat looked around carefully for the cobwebs before spotting some. She carefully approached hoping that there would be nothing that could hurt her hanging out around it. She did not need to get hurt at the moment. She knew her sister didn't know the first thing about medicine and neither did her mother. Her father might know some, but not enough to get them by.
It's a good thing I spent some time in the medicine cat den when I had greencough. We would never survive out here. The female thought to herself before carefully wrapping the cobwebs around a stick so that she could use them later. She knew the basics of all the herbs. Which were poisonous, and which were helpful. That's about the most she knew for most of them.
She shook her head and quickly headed back to the abandoned den they were slowly making into their home. She wished that she could use part of it to store some herbs just in case. I wonder if StarClan will still watch after us. I need their guidance right now to survive. She thought before seeing the opening of the den. She pushed the stick in first and then followed after it quickly.
"Mother, I'm back. I have some cobwebs." She said looking to the light brown female with the light blue eyes. Her father, the white tom with murky eyes laid on his side asleep. His wound wasn't serious so it should heal quickly. She looked around for her sister but didn't spot her.
"Where is Eaglepaw? She shouldn't be alone." She spoke slowly as she went to her father's side and put the cobwebs on his wound.
"She went to get some food. Don't worry about her Shadowpaw. She was the best apprentice at fighting. She will be fine on her own just like you were. She left soon after you so she will be back soon. I hope she brings back some good prey." The light brown female, Ferretwillow, said looking at her daughter.
"I hope so too. I don't want her to get hurt. The more numbers we have, the better. I'm going to find out when it's safe to go outside usually and find more herbs. Is there any room in here that I can store them?" Shadowpaw asked her mother.
"I'm sure there is my sweet, but for now, let's rest until your sister gets back with food. It's almost night anyways. We should get some sleep." Ferretwillow spoke before carefully laying down with her bright eyes on the opening to the den.
"I agree. Don't eat it all if I fall asleep." Shadowpaw teased before curling up by her father and waited.
