Shadow was in charge of the kits for the day. Night said he wanted to go out and hunt. Mud was going as well to hunt. Muddle and Pebble both said they wanted to explore the territory and see all the snow. That left the dark grey shecat alone with the nineteen kits. She sighed and thought of a game they could all play. She had played it once when she was a kit with her friends. She heard someone coming and turned quickly to see the dark ginger tom named Heatrumble. She rolled her eyes and snarled at him.

"What do you want? I am trying to look after the kits and I don't have time to deal with your nonsense." She growled at him as she quietly told the kits to stay where they were. The tom came closer to her and she unsheathed her claws.

"Hey, I just want to help. Mud came to the camp and said you would be alone. I thought I could help you and protect you. Your sister is still in these woods. I can just feel it." He said and shook his fur out with a small shiver. It was a good thing he had fluffy fur or he would be freezing in the cold like the shecat was.

"Fine. I was just about to teach them a game anyways. Remember mossball?" She asked him since he was one of the cats to play with her when they were younger.

"How could I forget? You got smacked in the face so hard you went flying!" The tom chuckled and nudged the shecat. She rolled her eyes and faced the kits again.

"This is Heatrumble. He will be with us until the others get back. He will be helping us with the teams as well." Shadow said flicking her tail with a smile.

"Hey, I know this isn't my place to say it, but there are nineteen kits. That would make uneven teams." The tom said as he counted up the kits looking at him with curiosity.

"I don't want to play. I would rather ref with with Shadow!" Smokey announced and curled up next to Shadow. Her fur almost blended in with the older shecat's.

"Yes. We had discussed that before. Now, we are onto how to play. I will throw a mossball into the air. A cat from each team will try to get it and pass it to their teammates. There will be two goals. The nursery and the leader's den. When one team scores, the other team gets the mossball. Make sense?" Shadow explained and then asked at the end. The kits all nodded in agreement and the female and tom started to pick teams. Smokey stayed curled up on Shadow's back loving the attention of the older shecat.

"Our goal will be the leader's den. We will be protecting the nursery. Don't let the mossball get in the nursery." Shadow whispered to her team and took the mossball to start the game.
