Mud looked at the female he was guarding slowly. Shadowpaw looked back up at him thinking he was going to say anything. She wasn't planning on moving anytime soon since her sister had just left. She knew she would be okay, but she didn't want to risk anything.
"What can you do anyways? Also, from now on your name is Shadow. I think it still suits you." Mud finally spoke up after his silence. He hadn't said anything since Brown left. His voice was back to being soft and his gaze was sweet. Shadowpaw, Shadow now, appreciated it. There was at least one good cat in this crazy rouge pack.
"I know some of the herbs used to treat cats. I don't know them all, but I know which are helpful and which are harmful. I also know some of them will make you throw up but won't poison you." Shadow said not bothering to argue with the name change.
He was right, it did suit her well. She was glad she got to mainly keep her clan name. She would have changed it herself sooner or later anyways. She didn't want to remember anything about the clans if she could help it. She met his gaze with a soft and gentle one of her own.
"So can you hunt and fight? You were really quick. I had trouble keeping up with you and I'm as quick as a rabbit." Mud said with his chest puffed out before giving it a few licks as if saying, 'Not really, just believe me.' Shadow giggled looking at him and smiled.
"I can hunt alright but I can't fight at all. I've always sucked. I was going to follow the route of the medicine and herbs, but I was told not to. Thank you for telling me I'm quicker than you and I can easily escape if you are on guard." Shadow said with a smirk on her face teasing the weak male.
She wasn't going to run, but that came in handy. She would stay here for a few days or maybe a moon if she had to, but she would never live here. She couldn't stand rouges and she had to get back to her family. She still had so much to learn and see about the world outside the clans.
"Please don't run. Night will cut my whiskers off if you run away and I let you go. I can help you with your fighting. I'm actually good at it, but I hate using it." He said shuffling his paws awkwardly before falling over with a huff. Shadow laughed more looking at the most awkward tom in front of her.
"Need help there? You seem to have fallen." She teased him before standing up and nudging him to his paws.
He jumped back at her touch seeming not to like it. She sighed and curled back up on the small bits of moss that was littered on the ground and seemed to never have been cleaned once. It was better than sleeping on the cold ground in her opinion. If it ever got too much for her, she could easily sneak away and get more. That was, if she knew were any was.
"Sorry, I'm skittish if you haven't noticed." Mud said quietly before looking at the other cats who were finally going to sleep. "Get some sleep Shadow. You will need it from here on out before you will have to hunt and defend for yourself. No more clan for you even though I want to know more about that." Mud said with a small yawn of his own.
Shadow nodded looking at the male. She flicked her tail as a goodnight. She took one finally look at the stars hoping that StarClan would still be there for her and her family if they weren't in a clan or in a pack of rouges. I need your guidance so stay with me. She thought before closing her eyes.
