Chapter 49-diary entry 18

On the way home from the interview, the car took a wrong turn, or so I thought. As we drove, more and more things became familiar, until my fears were finally confirmed as we turned into my old neighborhood. "Woah, Wha-What are we doing?" I asked, looking at Gaga nervously. "It's ok," she said soothingly, "I just have some paperwork that your mom and I have to take care of, and then we'll leave, ok?" I forced a nod, but my eyes stayed wide with fear.

We pulled into the driveway, and I pried myself out of the car, quickly running over to gaga and grabbing hold of her arm, burying my face into her. "It's going to be ok baby. It won't take long, i promise." We got to the front door and my mom opened it slowly with the same hateful expression she was wearing last time I had seen her. "Come in." She sighed, an annoyed tone in her voice. "I'm gonna go up to my room.." I whispered, running quickly up the stairs. I opened my door to see my old bedroom, empty and bare with the exception of all of my Gaga posters all over the walls. I plopped down on the blanketless bed and shoved my headphones into my ears, listening to the sweet sounds of Gaga's voice. After a while, I saw Gaga standing in the door way, looking a bit nervous. "Hey.." I said, sitting up quickly. "Heeeeyy.." She said, awkwardly walking over to me and sitting down. "What's going on?" I asked, beginning to get really nervous. "Well," she started, "The paper work we had to fill out was a bunch of stuff concerning you and your health and well being and all.. And as your mom and I got to talking we realized something.." Her voice faded out and she looked down at my hands as she took them into hers. Oh god, I thought, my heart rate quickening "And with this paperwork we were filling out, she was basically signing all of her parenting rights over to me anyway.. And we both kinda thought.. Why not uh.. Why not make it permanent?" My head started to spin as I attempted to comprehend what she was saying. "Wait.. What do you mean.. Like.. Like adopt me?" She nodded softly, "Yea.. Exactly. But only if you're ok with it.. She already signed the paper, all it needs is my signature and it'd be official." So many things ran through my mind, and I felt like my head was about to explode. "But wait.. You just happened to have adoption papers handy?" I asked, giving her a look. She smiled shyly, "Ok.. so maybe I've been thinking about this for a little while.. But.. What do you say? Would you.. Would you want that?" I nodded quickly, "That would be.. I mean.. I.. Yes!" I cried, hugging her tightly. She smiled brightly and pulled the papers out from under her arm. She took a pen out of her pocket and signed her signature right next to my moms. "Well.. Here we go.. We just have to turn it in and Amy.. You're mine." We both let out a squeal, and she hugged me tightly. We stood up, and headed down the stairs. I stood in front of my mom, ambivalent emotions filling my mind, "I.. Uh.. Bye mom.. I lov-e you.." I whispered. Then she did something so surprising I almost choked on my gum. She hugged me. I hugged back after a moment, but she quickly let go. "Goodbye Amy, I hope you end up happy." She murmured, sincerity in her voice. I just looked up at her and said a final goodbye with my eyes.

After that me and Gaga left.

"Alright, we have to get home kiddo. ArtRAVE starts tomorrow!" She shouted once we got in the car. I smiled, and laid my head on her the entire way home.
