"There. Everything is here and should be ready to go for you and your friends. You have all the snacks and drinks that you asked for and we have plenty of party games if you want to play them. You don't have to... but they're there if you get bored. Plus, you have about a million of those DVD's if you guys want to watch movies," Nel says.
Mitch nods and claps excitedly as he looks around the living room.
There's simple decorations but nothing much. Mitch didn't want to go full out but he wanted people to know that they were at a party. It's not like there were going to be a lot of people.
Everything is finally coming together. His party is starting in a half an hour. Everyone is confirmed to be coming over soon which Mitch is really excited about because he had been scared no one would show up. He's going to meet lots of new friends thanks to Kirstie being quite popular at school, and he's most definitely excited about hanging out with Scott.
Mitch looks up as soon as he heard knocking at the door.
"I'm assuming that's Kirstie," Nel chuckles and walks over to the door. She opens the door and smiles when she sees Kirstie standing in front of her. "I thought you would be early."
"I'm just so excited that I had to come early. And it looks like Scott just arrived to," Kirstie says as she points to another car pulling into the driveway. I didn't think he would actually come..."
"Mitch had some doubts too but I'm sure that he'll be pleased that you two come even if the others don't," Nel smiles and then she let's Kirstie inside and waits to help Scott in.
"This is going to be so awkward," Scott complains as Claire helps him into the wheelchair.
"Oh, shush you. This will be good for you. You're the new kid in school and you need to get to know some of the other students besides Mitch. Just be yourself, well... just try to be nice, okay?" Claire sighs.
"Wow... so encouraging," Scott rolls his eyes.
Claire helps pushes him up to the porch. "You must be Mitch's mom," she smiles at Nel.
"That's me, but you can call me Nel. And, you're... Scott's Aunt?" Nel asks.
"Yup, my name is Claire. I'm practically Scott's caretaker and I'm nervous about him going off by himself so I just feel better if I'm around," Claire says. "Sorry about that." She chuckles.
"That's alright. Mike is busy tonight so it'll be nice to have some extra help," Nel smiles.
"I'm happy to help out, especially when it comes to my nephew," Claire smiles and with the help of Nel, they manage to get Scott safely into the house. "You have a wonderful home."
"Thank you so much," Nel beams and leads the way into the living room where Kirstie and Mitch were already chatting excitedly with each other. "This is Kirstin, Mitch's friend,"
"Hello! Nice to meet you!" Kirstie exclaims as she shakes Claire's hand.
"Um, here-" Scott mumbles as he hands Mitch a card. "I-I don't know you very well so I didn't know what you would like as a present but I still wanted to get you something, a-and I hope you like whatever is inside. Kirstie told me that you would like this."
Mitch smiles as he takes the card and then hugs Scott, and signs 'thank you' to him.
"He says thank you," Claire says to Scott when she notices he looks confused.
"Oh, you know sign language?" Nel asks, surprised.
"Mhm. I know someone who is also mute that uses sign language," Claire smiles.
