Scott hesitates as he rolls down the ramp, taking his sweet time, and then he's looking up at the car in front of him. He takes a deep breath as he stares at it.

All of these thoughts are circling around in his head and he's really debating about going L.A.

It's a long drive from Texas to L.A, and Mitch has informed them that they'll be in the car for a long time with little stops. Scott avoids getting in cars at all costs, only going in cars if it was a quick trip or if it was an emergency. The accident he was in definitely gave him anxiety and ptsd.

"Is... Is he a trustworthy driver?" Scott asks, squinting as he watches Mitch's dad move things around so that there would be more room for Scott and Mitch so they could be comfortable the whole drive.

"I'm sure everything will be fine," Claire says as she gently rubs Scott's shoulder.

Scott flinches as soon as Claire speaks those six words. "That's what dad said before..."

"Scott, don't," Claire warns. "You can't think about that every time you get in a car."

Scott scoffs and looks up at Claire angrily. "Seriously? You can't expect me not to think about it! It's the reason why I'm in a fucking wheelchair! It's the reason my fam-"

"Is everything okay?"

Scott looks over and takes a deep breath when he sees Mike staring at them.

"Everything's fine-"

"Don't say that!" Scott yells angrily. "I change my mind. I don't want to go to L.A anymore."

"What?"

Scott behind him and bites his lip nervously when he sees Mitch walking out of his house with another box in his hands. Scott doesn't have a lot of things to take with him to L.A really, mostly because he wants to keep the majority of his stuff here in Texas in case he doesn't like L.A and wants to come home.

"But we agreed..." Mitch frowns. "You... You don't want to go?"

"Mitch, he's being crazy right now. It's been a long time since he's been in a car like this. He's just worried about what will happen," Claire says softly before looking back down at Scott.

"Scotty," Mitch sighs softly before walking over to Scott. "I understand why you're scared about going, and I would be scared if I were you too. You lost your family because of something like this-"

Scott flinches and looks away from Mitch, trying to keep himself from tearing up.

"I'm- I'm sorry, but-" Mitch sighs. "Nothing will happen. Scotty? Hey. Look at me-" He hands Claire the box he was holding. Mitch bends down slightly so he's looking at Scott clearer.

Scott sniffs slightly as he looks up at Mitch with teary eyes. "I-I... I don't want a-anything to happen to you. I already l-lost the most important people in my life. I can't lose you too," he whimpers.

"My dad is a trustworthy driver. He's made many long trips like this and there's not been one accident,"

"You p-promise?" Scott asks, holding his pinky up.

Mitch smiles and wraps his pinky around Scott's finger and holds it tightly. "I promise," he whispers before gently leaning down to kiss Scott's pinky. "Nothing will happen and I, and my dad... will make sure of it. This road trip is going to be fun."

**

"Mitch... I'm bored, and we've been driving for hours-"

"Scott, stop complaining. We still have a long way to go before we get to L.A,"

"I'm hungry. Can't we stop somewhere and get something to eat?" Scott complains more.

Mitch rolls his eyes and reaches down, and he pulls a bag of Doritos out of one of the bags on the floor, and then he throws it at Scott and giggles when it hits Scott in the face.

"Mike! Mitch is being mean to me!" Scott pouts as he grabs the Doritos.

"Mitch, quit being mean," Mike says even though he's hardly paying attention to the two.

"I'm not being mean, Scott's just being annoying!"

Scott reaches over and shoves Mitch playfully. "Quit being mean," he sticks his tongue out at Mitch.

Mitch reaches over to grab Scott's tongue but Scott giggles and quickly puts his tongue back in his mouth.

"Babe, you're probably tired. Why don't you try and take a nap?" Mitch suggests.

"No. I'm not going to be able to fall asleep in the car unless I'm really tired," Scott sighs.

"Well, you better hope you get tired soon because we still have many hours to go," Mike chuckles.

Scott groans and sinks down into his seat. "Why did I agree to go on this road trip again?"

"Oh, shit. Boys! Hang on to something!"

Mitch gasps and quickly reaches over to grab Scott tightly. "Dad, what's going on?"

No, no, no. This can't be happen again.

Scott's breathing starts getting heavier as he stares at the bright lights in front of him.

Suddenly, the car is being flipped upside down. Scott looks over at Mitch, but it's too late, and everything turns black.

**

Scott gasps as his eyes snap open, and he starts breathing heavily. He looks around and quickly realizes that he's still in Mitch's family car, and the car is still driving and not turned upside down. Scott looks over and sighs in relief when he sees Mitch sleeping peacefully next to him.

"Son, are you alright back there?"

Scott takes deep breath and looks up at Mike. "Yeah. I... I'm fine, Sir..." he whispers, as he sinks back down into his seat. "Bad dream. Just a bad dream."
