"Kirstie, I really don't know if I can do this..."

"Would you shush over there? Everything is going to be perfect!" Kirstie squeals excitedly.

"But what if he'll say no? Mitch has been so busy lately with working on becoming a singer. What if he's found something better than me?" Scott asks.

Kirstie rolls her eyes as she looks over at Scott. "You questioning Mitch's loyalty is not a good thing, Scott. If he wanted something better than he would have left you ages ago. Maybe there is a chance he'll say no but it won't be because he doesn't want to be with you. I know Mitch is in totally and completely in love with you. You have forever to get married to him," she says softly. "I'm just trying to be honest with you."

"No, you're right. I just... I love him so much. He's literally the only reason why I'm still here today. I... fuck, I almost killed myself once but he saved me. Well, technically you did but..."

"That's okay, I understand what you're saying," Kirstie laughs. "Just don't worry about that stuff right now. Think about how fucking romantic this setup is. Mitch is going to love it. He loves being at the park at night."

"I know, that's why I picked this spot to propose," Scott says. "It's perfect. It's not too dark and just a little breezy out. Just how I know my Mitchy likes it to be. What time is he going to be here?"

"Actually... he should be here any moment. Do you have the ring?" Kirstie asks.

Scott reaches down and pats his jeans pocket. He looks up at Kirstie and nods. "It's there," he says.

"Good. It's a beautiful ring. Mitch is going to love it," Kirstie says.

"I know he will. I wouldn't have even been able to get it if it weren't for you," Scott sighs. "I could barely afford to buy this ring without a job. I owe you so much. I promise I'll pay you back one day. I'll get a job and become rich and I'll buy you a whole damn house to pay you back."

"That's sweet but there's no need to do any of that. I wanted to help you. My best friends deserve to be happy and in love," Kirstie grins.

"That's nice," Scott smiles. He looks over when he hears a car pulling into the parking lot and smiles when he sees that it's Mitch. "Mitch is here! Is everything ready? We have everything?"

"Yes, of course. All the food and drinks is here. The candles are lit, the roses are placed..."

"Okay, that's great. I'm so nervous, I feel like my head is about to explode," Scott mumbles before he starts wheeling himself over to where Mitch parked.

Mitch gets out of the car and smiles when he sees Scott. "There's my handsome man,"

Scott looks up at Mitch and blushes. "Don't say that," he says shyly.

Mitch grins and shuts the car door, before walking over and kissing Scott. "No, but really... you do look very handsome. Damn, I know you said we were going on a date but I didn't think it would be here. Why the park?"

"Because you love the park, so I thought it would be fun to have a picnic in the park," Scott says.

"This is so sweet, and very romantic," Mitch grins as he looks around.

"Well..." Kirstie begins as she walks up to the two boys. "I'm going to go now and let you guys have your little date. Have fun, but not too much fun." She grins and hugs both of them.

"Thanks for helping me today," Scott waves to Kirstie as she walks away.

"Call me later," Kirstie winks at Scott before skipping over to her car.

Mitch chuckles and shakes his head at Kirstie before looking over at Scott. "Lead the way. I want to see what you've been working on all day with Kirstie," he says excitedly.

Scott takes a deep breath as he looks up at Mitch, and he can feel his nerves starting to come back again. "I hope you like it," he mumbles before he starts wheeling himself back over to the picnic basket.

"Wow," Mitch gasps when he notices the roses and the lit candles around the blanket. "Scotty!"

Scott blushes even more as he looks up at Mitch. "Do you like it?" He asks.

"Do I like it?" Mitch asks as he looks over at Scott. "This is beautiful. I'm obsessed with this."

Scott smiles, his heart feeling happy that he made Mitch smile. "Can you help me?"

"Of course I will, love," Mitch says. He walks over to Scott and helps him out of the wheelchair. Of course, Scott has been working on walking but he's not one hundred percent there and he wants to save the big surprise for their wedding day... that is, if they have a wedding day.

Mitch helps Scott down so that he's sitting on the picnic basket.

"Have you been planning this all week?" Mitch asks, looking over at Scott.

"Kind of," Scott shrugs. "I had Kirstie's help though. There's no way I could have done this by myself."

"Well, it's beautiful. I never thought you would be such a romantic,"

Scott giggles. "I'm full of surprises," he says as he starts pulling out food from the picnic basket.

Scott and Mitch sit and eat in a comfortable silence, chatting slightly, talking about what they've been up to and what their future plans will be. Talking about the future with Mitch gets Scott excited about proposing, which is the first time he's been excited as he's been a nervous wreck the whole week.

"Actually, speaking of the future..." Scott begins as he pushes himself.

Mitch blinks a few times as he looks over at Scott. "What are you doing?" He asks curiously.

Scott pushes himself up on his knees, at least he can show Mitch some of the progress he's made even though Mitch has no idea that he's been working on learning to walk again.

"Hey, be careful-" Mitch says, quickly sitting up to help Scott.

"No don't, I got it," Scott quickly reassures Mitch.

Mitch watches with amazement as Scott manages pushes himself up on one knee. He's never seen Scott move like that before and he's speechless, and has a million questions that he wants to ask.

"I've... been thinking about the future a lot lately, and I can't picture my future being with someone else who isn't you, nor do I want to picture my future being without you. You helped me through so much throughout high school and helped me realize that I don't need to be pissed off at the world despite the accident. And, I know that we're still young but age doesn't matter when we've got forever to be together..."

"Scott..." Mitch whispers as his heart starts pounding against his chest.

"I... I love you so much, Mitchy. Please, make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?"

"Oh my God," Mitch breathes as his eyes begin to water up. "I..."

"I-It's okay if you say no. I know I'm a burden sometimes and I can be needy. And I know we're still young and just out of high school and you want to do bigger things in your life but..."

"Shut up," Mitch snaps before flinging his arms around Scott and kissing him. "Of course I'll marry you!"
