Trigger Warning: mentions of suicide

****

That was the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me.

"Come on, it was really nice," Kirstie says as she sits down beside Mitch at their second period class. They had just gotten out of an assembly where the principal talked about bullying and what was going on with Mitch.

Mitch felt so awkward and uncomfortable throughout the entire assembly.

"I mean... at least Mr. Greene is saying something about the bullying. Most schools wouldn't bother to do anything. I'm sure people will still bully others but at least this will help," Kirstie smiles. "It will hopefully make things much easier for you and Scott."

As long as Scott is happy, then I'm happy. I still don't know why he tried suicide but if it was because of bullying then you're right. Maybe it will help.

"That reminds me... you have to talk to Scott about that. I know he was feeling depressed after you two got in a fight. Like he wouldn't talk to me or anyone. He was so sad. You have to talk to him and make sure he doesn't do that again. That was really scary," Kirstie frowns.

Mitch nods, knowing that Kirstie is right. He needs to know that Scott won't try to kill himself again. Mitch finally got him back and he would be heartbroken if something like that ever happened to Scott again.

"Scott just needs to know he is loved and that he has friends," Kirstie smiles. "That's where we come in. God, he actually showed up to school?"

Mitch looks over and freezes when he sees Avi walk into the classroom. He hasn't seen him nor talked to him since the party. He forgot that he had a few classes with him.

"Just ignore him. He doesn't deserve your attention,"

Mitch takes a deep breath and looks over at Kirstie.

Keep him away from me, please? He's been trying to talk to me since the party and I never want to talk to him again. He hurt me and betrayed me.

"You got it, babe. I wasn't going to let him near anyways. I knew he wasn't a good guy," Kirstie sighs.

"Alright class, settle down... take your seat!"

Mitch glances back and bites his lip when he sees Avi staring at him. He has a bad feeling that Avi will try to talk to him again and he doesn't want to talk to him.

Lunch came around and Mitch starts heading straight to the cafeteria. He smiles when he sees Scott coming out of the elevator.

"Hi," Scott blushes when he sees Mitch walking up to him.

Mitch waves and then he points to the bathroom.

I'm literally going to die if I don't use the bathroom so I'll meet you at the table in a few minutes.

Scott laughs and nods. "Okay. Text me or Kirst if you need anything," he says before wheeling into the cafeteria.

Mitch smiles and then he walks into the bathroom. He looks up and his eyes widen when he sees Avi.

Avi looks over and stands straight when he sees Mitch.

"Mitch-"

Mitch shakes his head and quickly backs up.

"Mitch, wait-" Avi quickly grabs his arm and pulls him into the bathroom and pushes him against the wall.

Mitch tries pushing Avi away but he's not strong enough and he hates that he can't scream for help.

"Baby, please. Let me talk..."

Mitch doesn't even think twice before slapping Avi across the face the second he calls him 'baby'.

Avi looks up at Mitch and glares at him. "You bitch-" He tries to grab Mitch's arm again.

"No!" Mitch's eyes widen the second the word comes out of his mouth, and he slaps his hand over his mouth. He hasn't spoken since he was a little boy. He knew there was always a small chance that he could talk again but he never thought it would actually be possible. The doctor had told him that his vocal chords had only been slightly damaged and if he really tried and practiced... he might be able to talk again.

"Did you just...?"

Mitch pushes him away and runs out of the bathroom, completely forgetting the fact that he had to pee before.

Mitch runs into the cafeteria, ignoring the strange looks he was getting from other students.

"Mitch, what's going on?" Kirstie asks when Mitch runs up to her and Scott.

I just spoke! I just spoke!

Mitch jumps up and down with his notebook in his hands.

"Mitch!" Kirstie reaches up and grabs the notebook from Mitch. She reads it and gasps when she understand what's going on. "Oh my gosh. Are you serious?"

Mitch hugs Kirstie tightly as tears pour out of his eyes.

Scott blinks a few times as he watches the two. He grabs the notebook and smiles after he finishes reading. He looks up at Mitch. He couldn't be more happier for Mitch, and he hopes that one day he can hear Mitch talk.
