"I can't believe you can talk again," Scott whispers as he lays with Mitch in his bed.

Mitch smiles as he looks up at Scott. "Me too," he says. "I love it."

"You learned so much in six months. That's impressive," Scott grins.

Mitch giggles. "I have a great teacher. Patient. Still learning," he sighs. "It hurts..."

"I know," Scott frowns. "You didn't speak for years. I'm sure it will take some time getting used to."

"I want to sing," Mitch says as he looks up at Scott.

"Maybe you could take singing lessons too?" Scott suggests. "That might help."

Mitch slowly nods. "Maybe," he sighs and rests his head on Scott's chest.

"So, have you had anymore interactions with um, Avi?" Scott asks, biting his lip slightly.

I'd rather not talk about him right now, if that's okay.

"O-Of course. I just want to make sure. I don't want him giving you any trouble," Scott says.

I'm just ignoring him the best that I can. Besides, it's not like you can do anything about him.

"What does that mean?" Scott asks defensively, pushing himself up, causing Mitch to fall over.

Mitch blinks a few times as he looks up at Scott, a little confused and surprised.

"Was that seriously a dig at the fact that I'm in a wheelchair, Mitch? Because if I remember correctly... I managed to stick up for you when Austin was cornering you," Scott snaps.

Mitch looks up at Scott with wide eyes, and quickly shakes his head.

I didn't mean it like that! I just meant that there's nothing you can do to stop him from harassing me. Even with the principal looking out for students more now. Avi's still pissed that I broke up with him. I mean... that's why he started that rumor about me. I wasn't making fun of you for being in wheelchair. Come on, Scott. I can't believe you would actually think I would say something like that.

Although, Mitch won't tell him about the time he doubted Scott could ever protect him. He was still upset over the fact that Scott had rejected him. He doesn't think like that now, of course.

Scott takes a deep breath, realizing how silly it was for him to assume Mitch thought that. "I-I'm sorry. I just... I'm sorry," he mumbles, his cheeks turning bright pink. "I just feel like I don't have anything to relate to you anymore. You were the only person who had a disability and that's what we bonded over."

Mitch frowns as he listens to Scott.

I still have a disability, Scotty. I'm just learning how to talk. I thought you were okay with this?

"No, I am okay with it. I'm happy that you're learning to speak. I don't know what's wrong with me..."

Mitch reaches over and kisses him. "It's okay. I understand," he says.

Scott looks up at Mitch. "You're not mad at me?" He asks. "I just kind of accused you..."

Mitch laughs, and Scott's eyes light up at the sound and seeing Mitch smiling. "No, Scotty..."

"Okay, good. I didn't want to fuck up our relationship already," Scott blushes. "I love you."

Mitch's head immediately snaps up. "What?" He asks, shocked.

"I... um, I said I l-love you," Scott says nervously.

Mitch gasps. He sits up on his knees and flings his arms around Scott's neck, kissing him passionately.

Scott's eyes widen in surprise. They kiss all the time but never like this, though he's not complaining.

Once Scott finally manages to kiss Mitch back, the kiss gets more heated. They fall over onto the bed, Mitch now lying on top of Scott as they kiss. Though the kiss is more slow now.

Scott finally pulls away and takes a deep breath. "Holy shit," he breathes.

Mitch grins. "I... love you t-too," he finally says.

"Wow," Scott smiles. "That's the first time we've ever said that."

"No rushing," Mitch says, trying to tell Scott that it's good that they waited. "Love you."

"I love you too," Scott smiles. "It feels good to hear you say that."

"Scott?"

Scott groans as soon as he hears Aunt Claire's voice.

"Aunt Claire, you're ruining the moment!" Scott whines, making Mitch giggle.

The door opens, and Aunt Claire raises her eyebrows when she sees Mitch on top of Scott.

"You better not be..."

"No!" Scott exclaims. "God, who do you think I am? Besides... it's kind of difficult when I'm..."

"You know, it is still possible. The doctor even said," Aunt Claire says. "You just have to be more careful."

Scott facepalms. "I cannot believe we're having this conversation right now," he mumbles.
