Scott waits a few weeks before he finally starts looking for a physical therapist, with the help of Kirstie and Aunt Claire offering to pay for any medical bills since Scott doesn't have a job and can't pay for himself.
Things are finally settling down at the new apartment and honestly Scott hasn't even thought about moving back to Texas. He really enjoys the town they're at and he's not stuck in the apartment like he used to be stuck inside when he lived with Aunt Claire. He knew she did it to protect him but Scott likes being able to go out and enjoy the sunshine, though he always had someone by his side, just in case.
"So," Mitch Begins as he sits down on the couch next to Scott.
Scott looks up from his phone and raises his eyebrows at Mitch. "What's up?"
"It's been close to a month since we moved here in L.A," Mitch tells him. "How do you like L.A? We don't really get to talk much since we're both busy doing other stuff and I'm sorry about that."
"It's okay. We still see each other every day," Scott replies with a shrug. "And... honestly. I'm enjoying L.A a lot more than I thought I would. I thought I would be miserable but I'm not miserable. I'm just not stuck in the apartment so much and I really like going outside. Kirstie helps me a lot which is good."
Mitch smiles. "So, do you think you'll want to live here permanently?"
"Mhm," Scott nods. "I really can't see myself living back in Texas. I was angry and depressed back there. You saw how I was when we first met each other."
"Yes, I remember," Mitch chuckles. "That makes me happy. I knew you would love L.A." He smiles and then he scoots closer to Scott and cuddles him. "What have you been up to?"
Scott bites his lip slightly. He can't tell Mitch that he's been working with a physical therapist because that would totally ruin the surprise. "I've just been searching for a job," he says, and he's not technically lying because he has been looking for a job. It's just not been his top priority.
"And how's that been going?" Mitch asks as he looks up at Scott curiously.
"As you would expect. Nobody wants to hire someone in the wheelchair. I think I might just try to find a job at a grocery store until I can find something better," Scott says.
"I'm sorry, baby. It sucks that people treat you so badly just because of your disability," Mitch frowns.
"It's okay. I'm used to it by now," Scott mumbles.
"I just hate that I learned to talk, and you're still stuck in a wheelchair. Have you talked to your doctor about possibly learning to walk in the future? You're still young. It's possible," Mitch says.
"Yeah. Maybe I'll give him a call this week or something," Scott nods. "How's the singing coming along?"
"Getting better. I can talk as much as I want but singing is a little bit harder. My voice cracks when I try to go to high but Tommy said that would happen. I just have to keep trying," Mitch sighs.
"Well, I have faith in you. Someone will find you and want you on their record label," Scott smiles at him. "And soon, in no time... you're going to be a big pop star and I'll be your number one fan."
Mitch smiles and sits up. "Thanks, Scotty. Are you hungry?" He asks. "I can order a pizza or something."
"Pizza sounds very good right now. Kirstie should be home soon," Scott adds.
"You're right. I'll order us a pizza in a bit," Mitch grins.
"Hey, since we've both been a little busy since we've moved in... maybe we should take some time for ourselves. What about a date this weekend? I mean... if you want to," Scott blushes.
Mitch smiles. "Actually... yes. A date sounds wonderful. You're right it has been a long time since we've been on a date. I miss our little dates." he says. "What do you have in mind?"
"I don't know. I'll think of something romantic and get back to you," Scott says.
Mitch laughs and shakes his head. "Okay, my love. Whatever you say," he says. He gently kisses Scott once before getting up to go find his phone so that he can order their dinner.
Scott smiles as he watches Mitch and then he groans and slowly sinks down into the couch. He's already feeling the nerves of asking Mitch to marry him. There's so many things that could go wrong.
Scott doesn't even know how he's going to propose to him, but he just wants to. He wants to be able to spend the rest of his life with this boy. There's no one else in the world that would put up with him and his disability. Mitch is patient and takes care of him despite the fact that he's needy and annoying sometimes.
All Scott knows is that he has a lot to plan this week for the perfect romantic proposal for mitch, but he also knows that he'll have Kirstie to help him and Kirstie knows all about romance.
