Mitch can't stop thinking about Scott, even when he and Kirstie were getting their nails done.
There's just something about Scott that Mitch loves and adores.
Scott's shy, but when he opens up... he's extremely funny. He always makes Mitch laugh. Not to mention, Scott is the most kind and caring, ball of sunshine Mitch has ever met.
Mitch doesn't want to things to move fast because he's only known Scott for a couple of weeks, even though it feels like they've known each other for years at this point with the amount of time they've been spending with each other. Mitch isn't complaining though. He prefers it like that.
"Are you okay, Mitch? You didn't really say anything in the nail salon..." Kirstie says as they walk out of the nail salon. They had just finished with getting their nails finished.
I think I'm going to tell him how I feel.
"Who? Scott?" Kirstie frowns as she looks up at Mitch, surprised that Mitch would say that. "What? But... I thought you didn't want to move too fast because you just met?"
I just can't stop thinking about him and it's driving me crazy.
"I understand how you're feeling. I was the same way with Jeremy when we first started talking to each other. But, think about this. You said yourself that you didn't want to scare him away. Scott's only just now opening up to you. Maybe you should wait,"
Mitch bites his lip as he looks over at Kirstie. He knows she's right, but he doesn't want to wait.
As soon as Mitch leaves Kirstie, he heads straight to Scott's house.
"Hello Mitch. Come on in," Claire says as she lets Mitch inside.
Mitch smiles at her and then he walks inside. He looks around but doesn't see Scott anywhere.
"Scott is in his bedroom. You can go ahead and go see him," Claire says.
Mitch nods and waves to Claire before heading straight to Scott's bedroom. He knocks on the door and waits for Scott to let him know that he can come in.
Scott answers the door a few moments later. He looks up and is surprised to see Mitch.
"Mitch? What are you doing here? I thought you were getting your nails done with Kirstie?" Scott asks.
Mitch smiles and holds up his hands, showing Scott is now purple painted nails.
"Oh," Scott laughs. "Very nice. Come in."
Mitch walks into Scott's bedroom and walks over to plop down on his bed.
"I wasn't expecting to see you today. Sorry my room is a mess..." Scott says as he wheels himself back over to his bed. He looks up at Mitch and smiles at him. "Are you staying long?"
Mitch shrugs, and then pulls out his pen and paper from his bag.
Just for a little bit I think. Mom wants me home before it's late.
"Oh okay. That's fine," Scott nods and then he pushes himself up and gets on the bed. "Wanna watch TV?"
Spongebob?
Scott laughs and rolls his eyes playfully. "Okay... you're obsessed with that show!"
Mitch sticks his tongue out at Scott and shakes his head.
Don't judge me. Spongebob is a really good show, okay?
Scott smiles and then he bites his lip. "I wish I could hear your voice... I'm sorry for bringing it up but..."
It's okay. I understand. I wish I could talk too.
"It's not fair that you lost your voice..." Scott begins.
It's not fair that you lost your ability to walk either.
"Yeah, life sucks," Scott sighs. "At least I have someone like you to relate to."
Mitch nods, and then he thinks for a moment. He smiles and holds up his finger, and then pulls out his phone. He pulls up his video and then he shows Scott one of his old performances.
I know it's not the same but that's what I used to sound like when I was littler. I'm sure I would sound very different now but it's the closest you'll get to hearing me talk.
"Wow!" Scott's eyes widen as he watches the performance. "You're very good."
Mitch blushes and looks down at his hands.
"Like, really good. Fuck... you were so talented. It's not fucking fair," Scott frowns.
Mitch scoots closer to Scott and opens his arms, and Scott instantly pulls him into a hug.
"Whatever happened to that guy that caused you to lose your voice?" Scott asks curiously.
He got in a lot of trouble after everybody found out what happened... went to jail and everything. Mom got a restraining order against him so he's not allowed to go near me anymore.
"Good. I'm glad he didn't get away with what he did," Scott mumbles.
An hour passes by quickly. Mitch watches Spongebob with Scott and cuddles with him on his bed. Mitch knows that he has to go soon and he doesn't want to leave Scott's without telling him how he feels.
Scotty? Can I tell you something?
Scott looks over and then he nods, looking up at Mitch.
Mitch bites his lip and then he pushes himself up, praying Scott won't reject him or get mad.
So, you know how we're both gay?
Scott raises his eyebrows. "Yeah?" He asks. "Where are you going with this?"
Well...
Mitch hesitates as he debates about whether or should tell Scott or not.
Mitch has never had feelings like this for anyone before. He's only ever had Kirstie has a friend and it's kind of impossible to fall in love with her when he's attracted to guys. Plus, Kirstie is like a sister to him, and he would never dream about falling in love with someone like Kirstie.
Mitch really doesn't want to mess this up. He absolutely can't lose Scott as a friend.
"Mitch, what is it?" Scott asks, also pushing himself up.
Okay, screw it. I'm just going to say how I feel and that is...
Well, I think I've fallen in love with you Scott.
Scott stares at the note for what feels like forever, not saying a word. Mitch can't read his facial expression so he can't tell whether Scott is happy, upset or angry. The anticipation is killing him.
Scott finally takes a deep breath and hands the note back to Mitch. "I think you should go," he whispers.
Mitch's eyes widen as he stares at Scott, but he doesn't move.
Scott looks up at Mitch. "Go. Now!" He demands coldly, pointing to his door, his finger shaking slightly.
Mitch's eyes begin to water up. He quickly grabs his bag and hurries to the door.
Claire is in the living room when she sees Mitch run out of Scott's bedroom. "Hey, Mitch. I-"
Mitch ignores her and runs out the door as quickly as he can, tears falling out of his eyes.
It a was a mistake. Kirstie was right. Mitch should have never said anything.
