Yep I'm back. And I'm bringing the hilarity back. Even maybe a few quotes from different places. You know you love the funny quotes.
I started noticing as the days went on the ember-char would spread out where I touched more frequently. I knew that because of Toby's death I was losing control of my powers. It was starting to look more and more like the plot of Frozen. But I would control it, I wouldn't cause a huge fire and run off, I wouldn't hurt anyone. Conceal it, don't feel it. That's what Elsa had said right. If that had worked for her, then it could work for me. I just had to keep the gloves on. Simple as that.
Well enough of my problems. You see, there's this thing that happened that's kind of cool and scary at the same time. A couple of days after we got the call to come home we were packing up our things.
"Hey Crook, you wanna go downstairs and interrogate Alex one more time before we leave?" Jeff poked his head in. I smiled evilly and gave my most evil laugh. Which ended up in my coughing up a lung.
"Yeah sure." I giggled. We walked downstairs. Just before we entered the hostage room Jeff stopped and looked at me. He handed me the file that Masky had found at Breckenridge.
"I'll be Castle if you'll be Becket." He smiled.
"Good. Don't be surprised if he's a little unwilling to answer some questions." I cracked my knuckles and opened the door. I tucked the file under my arm and sat down in one of two chairs. Jeff took the other.
"What do you want?" Alex glared at the both of us.
"Oh you know. The usual. But first let's start with this, Why did you suddenly want to kill Jay?" I leaned back in my chair.
"He said he was going to quit. That it was too much for him. Just because he was afraid of what might happen." He glared at me and looked like he was about to say more, but thought better of it. Good call.
"Yeah but why then? Why, try to do it in the midst of all that chaos. There had to be a reason." Jeff leaned forward and put his elbows on the table.
"Cause then I could blame it on Michael. But who knows where he went. Then the black eyed kids came along and said I killed the wrong person. I didn't know what they meant. I got so, so angry and I had to take out my anger on somebody. So I set off the explosion that wrecked Breckenridge. Then I saw you and Toby and I felt that anger come back again. So I did what Jane wanted me to do, I killed him." Why he was telling all of this now I had no clue. But whatever I was liking this. Jeff suddenly stood up and grabbed Alex by his shirt collar.
"Listen, anger doesn't give you the right to kill somebody." He said in the same voice he'd talked with at our first encounter with Jane.
"That's how reality works buddy." Alex smiled. I grinned.
"Well I reject your reality and substitute my own. In my reality, I hold all the cards. I'm the one in control. And I'm the one that decides if you live or not. Now sit down, stop being a smart alec, and answer our questions. How did you first get acquainted with the principal of Breckenridge?" I folded my arms over my chest.
"I first met him three years ago. We met when I went to Breckenridge to work on the wifi there. The principal told me he'd been watching Marble Hornets lately and wanted to know more about the 'proxies' as he called them. So I told him what he wanted to know but he wanted to know more. So we took Masky, so what? He-"
"The 'so what' about this is the fact that he almost died!" I interrupted. Alex flinched and looked at me with a look of fear on his face. Later when I looked in a mirror I could see why. In my eyes the pupil was surrounded by fire. The red was still there but it was just creepy. The fact that I almost let Jeff see was what really scared me. If he knew, than most likely he would be afraid of me.
"Sorry." Alex mumbled.
"Tell your sorry to someone who cares." Jeff got up and motioned for me to get up.
"We're done here." I smiled evilly and got up.
"Wait! You can't leave me here! They're coming for me! They'll get you too! Don't leave me here! You can't!" Alex screamed and tugged at the handcuffs that attatched him to the chair.
"Watch us." Then I closed the door. Jeff and I high fived and went back to our packing. I wrote down what Alex had said the entire time in a little journal I decided to keep. Any information that could help us decipher what Jane's big plan is was recorded in that little notebook. A little while into my writing Ben knocked on my door. I could always tell it was Ben because he knocked that little theme from Zelda when you get something. You know that "YOU GOT THE THING!" tune? Yeah that one, "Yeah?"
"Hey Hoodie says we're going to leave soon. Like, in about thirty minutes." He said through the door.
"Kay! Be down in a few minutes!" I shouted back. I quickly packed some extra clothes, a toothbrush, other things a girl needs, and a few drawing supplies. What can I say I love to draw. Is that a crime? As I came down the stairs I noticed a small trail of black powder trailing down the stairs and into each room, "Guys!" I shouted. No answer, "Guys!" This time they all came running.
"What is it?" Jeff asked.
"Gun powder." I pointed to the powder on the stairs.
"We need to get out of here now!" Hoodie grabbed up his bags and started running. The rest of us followed. As we ran out the door Alex came out with us. Jeff turned around and pointed the gun that Alex had had at him.
"Don't get any closer to her." He growled. I backed away and stood next to Jeff. I whispered in his ear.
"We have to kill him. He'll tell Jane we left and then the whole thing will start over again."
"Yeah, but do I have to do it?" He whispered back.
"Do you want me to?" I asked innocently.
"No."
"What are you talking about?" Alex demanded. I grinned.
"Your death." Jeff fired two times. Then he dropped the gun and grabbed my wrist. We all ran to the car, and as we drove away the house exploded. I felt like that was an appropriate Mythbusters moment so I said,
"This is the point in which I say, 'gee where else have we been that hasn't exploded." That evoked a laugh from everybody.
"Your a genius!" Ben gasped through his fits of laughter.
"Nope, I'm just a person who LOOOVES Adam Savage quotes." I smiled.
