Why is it when you really want to find something it seemingly disappears? I mean like whenever you don't need it you see it all the time but then all of a sudden you need it and the darn thing vanishes! Well, that's what happened when we were looking for the list if ingredients.
God. Damn. Piles. Of. Crap. In. My. Room.
"I'm never going to find anything ever in this room. Why didn't I listen to my mom when she said clean my room?" I groaned.
"I don't know maybe your a teenager?" Jeff elbowed me.
"Well I'd disagree with you but that would make me a liar." I shrugged. All I wanted to do was just sprawl out on the floor and call it quits. But I had to keep going for the other person in the end of this empathy link. I didn't even know how to work the stupid thing. It's not like a phone call or anything.
"What are some of the ingredients so then if we see a piece of paper with them on it we know what it is." Ben suggested.
"Hmm let's see.....the silk of the Bombyx Mori moth, honey, phosphorus, bone, blood, calcium carbonate, and uranium." I rattled off a couple off the top of my head.
"How in the world are we supposed to get uranium without killing ourselves?" Hoodie sighed.
"I don't know. What I'm wondering is why they want it." Jeff said as he looked through a folder, "Hey guys look at this, little Crook!" Jeff produced a photo of me in third grade.
My hair was in a pixie cut and it was colored black in some places. I was wearing a little black jacket and jeans. When that picture was taken I was just getting into being a punk. Yeah I abandoned that idea in fourth grade.
"Ugh I look terrible." I'm sure I was blushing furiously.
"I dunno....you do look pretty cute in this photo." Toby peered over Jeff's shoulder with the fez on his head.
"That was about third grade. I was trying something new and well, that was the result. Mom didn't even try to convince me otherwise, oddly enough." I shrugged as I rummaged around an old drawer. And believe it or not I found it. I held up the paper with my crooked grin, "Found it!"
"Woo hoo!" Toby jumped up in a high school musical jump. I rolled my eyes and rattled off the ingredients.
"I think my brain was at full capacity at myrrh." Ben said faking fainting on my bed.
"Sure. Well now that we've the found the list of ingredients we can give it to Slender to see what he can do." Jeff looked over the paper several times as if memorizing the words.
"Yeah, good- " I started but my vision blurred and I was back in that depressing place again. Alex and Matt were having a video chat thing with Happy Mask Salesman.
"Okay but how are we supposed to do that?" Alex crossed his arms over his chest.
"All you got to do is use one of the things on the list. Then she'll awaken." Happy Mask pointed down at a price of paper on the desk.
"Yeah but would we want Crook to awaken? I mean if she really does have the kind of power Jane says she does we could be digging our own graves." Matt wavered as he read the paper, "And how do we induce a seizure on her? She doesn't have epilepsy."
"Oh yes she does."
"What?!" I mentally screamed, " Stay out of my life you creeper!"
My vision blurred again and I was sitting on my floor curled up in a fetal position.
"What the- how did- how did he know?" I whispered.
"Uh Crook you okay?" Toby poked me. It startled me so I yelped and fell over.
"Y-yeah. Just something weird happened. You know the thing that happened on the stairs?"
"Yeeeeees." Toby answered, suspicion in his face.
"Well that just happened. Again." I sighed, "Well what did I do while the weird thing was happening?"
"Well the first time you didn't seem to know who or where you were and your eyes turned blue. The second time you just froze, looked around looking like a cornered rabbit, then curled up on the floor." Toby explained.
"Huh. That's strange." I frowned. Why does this always happen to me? And what is it? Are these supposed to be messages from Masky or what? Either way I started to notice in the days afterward that Toby began watching me more intently than usual. Now normally after I came home from school I'd go into the secret room and meditate. The voice said I had to do that to unlock my "true potential". Whatever that means. One day I was meditating when the room suddenly became freezing, "Jesus it's cold in here turn up the heat!"
"You've unlocked your power. Congrats. Now try to summon the fire to your hands." The voice commented.
"Okay. But after that I get a break from magical stuff."
"Yeah, whatever." Woah the voice what starting to sound more like me. And I'm not talking like sounding I'm talking about the way I speak. You know like a teenager. I thought I was playing it pretty safe, that was until I got careless and somebody found out.
