Hey guys! Drama awaits in this chapter! And it begins at when Crook ran from the car.
Crook did what Hoodie told her to do. Run. She ran across the road and onto the other side of it. She tripped and rolled down the hill, stopping only because she hit a tree. Crook got up and this time walked. As she walked silently she thought. She thought more and more about the day Jay and Toby had died. What she wouldn't give to save them. Crook thought that she'd have Alex kill her instead of Toby.
"It's my fault." She whispered. The ember-char spread out from every footstep moving farther and farther with each "my fault."
"Stop." A familiar and hated voice said behind her. Crook gritted her teeth and faced Alex.
"What!?" She barked. Bits of burnt leaves began to surround her. Alex took out a knife. Crook noted where the bullet Jeff had fired had hit, right where Alex had shot Jay, "You don't want to do that." She smiled just enough to give Alex the chills.
"I've come to finish what I started." Alex came closer, "Though what you said earlier is true. They both died because of you."
"Shut up." Crook glared at him as they circled round each other.
"I'm sorry was it something I said? It is true though. You went back there on a hunch. Came with seven left with five. Well, five living people. You also left with no other leads. It's your fault their dead and the others know it to. Soon they'll find out about your secret!" Alex chided.
"And what makes you think that?" With every breath she took, Crook got angrier and angrier. She wasn't angry because of what Alex had said, it was because what he'd said was true. They'd left with no other leads. Just two dead friends.
"I'm going to tell them. Then we'll see what they think of you then! We'll see who's laughing then!" Alex jutted his chin up.
"Shut up." Crook pressed her hands to her temples, "Shut up shut up SHUT UP!" The bits of burnt leaves swirled around faster and faster, until Crook couldn't see Alex anymore. She took the opportunity to take out the dagger the old woman had given her. the writing had changed again. KILL HIM, "This is for you Jay. You too Toby." She whispered.
Charging out of the tornado of burnt leaves, Crook raised up the dagger. She ran up to Alex, trusting it in his chest. He fell backwards, hitting his head on a rock when he hit the ground. Crook grabbed the dagger and yanked it out of his chest. She then pressed the edge to the corner of his mouth and carved a smirk identical to hers. Then she took the dagger and just stabbed him in the chest a million times. With each time the blade penetrated Alex's flesh Crook laughed more and more. After about two minutes of this she suddenly stopped. She was exhausted, yet completely energized at the same time. Her clothes were covered in Alex's blood. Crook collapsed next to a tree as tears came streaming down her face.
"My fault my fault I couldn't save them I should've died. My fault it's all my fault!" She hugged her knees into her chest and cried some more. She felt like it had been her chest that had been torn apart by the knife instead of Alex's. Crook glanced at his corpse and let a small chuckle escape from her lips. it wasn't the blood, or the fact that it was satisfying to avenge her fallen comrades that amused her. It was the horrified look on his face.
Meanwhile the others ran blindly through the foliage, trying to find Crook. Even though it wasn't said, they all feared the same thing. That they were too late. As they came across a small creek they noticed the slight red tint of the water. Jeff tasted it and confirmed that the red tint was indeed blood. They all ran up the creek until they discovered the corpse of Alex Kralie. A short distance away was Crook slumped against a tree, smirking at the corpse.
