The next chapter is when the Frozen thing ends. Then it'll be the final showdown!!!!!

We decided we would go back to the mansion that night. There was no time to waste as Observer out it. I couldn't keep from noticing that the red spots on the bandage on Observer's shoulder kept getting bigger. He had to sit down a lot, making me wonder what had happened out there. Maybe it happened when the black eyed kids attacked? I didn't want to pry so I didn't ask.

An hour went by without anything really happening. The cabin was tense with silence.

"Can we go now?" Ben sat with his back on the floor and his legs on the wall. He basicly looked like he was sitting crosslegged on the wall.

"Not yet, we have to wait for night." Masky glanced out the window like he expected Alex to be right there.

"Yeah but do we have that much ti-" Observer lurched forward, clutching his shoulder. Firebrand and Masky ran over to him, catching him before he fell.

"Damn it! It worked faster than we thought it would." Firebrand muttered under his breath as he sat Observer down.

"What?" Masky asked.

"Nothing." Observer grunted through grit teeth.

"I can tell it's not nothing. What happened?" I got up from where I sat. Firebrand bit his lip and looked down at Observer.

"Might as well." He sighed, "When we were going to investigate the fire we were attacked by a group of black eyed kids. And uh there was someone else with them....." Firebrand looked back at Toby.

"Clockwork." Toby turned to the window and his fists clenched.

"Yeah her. She uh went after Observer and he got stabbed in the shoulder. I got her knife and there were traces of poison on them." Firebrand stumbled on the last words and he looked like he was about to cry. Toby suddenly slammed his fist on the window sill.

"We're going back now." He growled.

"Do you think that's a good idea?" I asked, "I mean they could be waiting out there until we walk by and then attack us!"

"And they could already have killed Crook too. But they haven't." Masky reasoned.

"How do you know that?" Firebrand asked.

"Crook and Masky have an empathy link. She formed it when he'd been kidnapped once. We haven't really used it much since. Probably couldn't hurt to see what she's doing now." Ben shrugged.

"Okay." Masky shrugged. He closed his eyes clenching and unclenching his fists. Then his body went completely rigid.

"What's going on?" Firebrand whispered.

"I think it's just passing through all the time and space whatevers." Ben plopped back down on the floor. Observer opened his eyes and tried getting up.

"Oh no you don't." Firebrand sat him back down. Observer seemed to want to argue but clearly didn't have the energy. Masky's eyes suddenly snapped open.

"We have to leave now." He paced around the room.

"What? What happened to Jenn!?" I stumbled over there. Masky looked at me with a look of dread.

"They've got her." Was all he said.

"What kind of poison?" Ben asked suddenly.

"Uh let me think......" Firebrand looked up at the ceiling as he thought, "Oh yeah Detrin."

"Lucky for you I know how to get rid of it." Ben pulled out a small vial and inspected it, "Yep this should do it."

"What is it?" Observer asked.
