Hello readers! This chapter is extremely sad so if you are prone to crying for fictional characters proceed with caution.
" A-alex? " Toby stammered. I took out the duct tape ball, prepared for pretty much anything. Except for what happened.
"How'd you get out?" I asked in an annoyed tone. He didn't respond. Alex just stood there pointing the gun at us. When I regretfully look back I've realized that Alex had been pointing the gun at Toby the entire time.
It seemed like hours as we stared at each other. As if one were afraid that if they moved it would set the other off.
A quick warning to the faint of heart. What happens next may scar you for life. It certainly has left me with a deep wound in my heart.
I heard the sound of running footsteps down the hallway.
" Alex STOP!" A girls voice shrieked. She came running up next to me. She had long brown hair, stitches at the sides of her mouth, one eye was green and the other was a pocket clock guys in the ye olden days used to carry around.
"Stay out of this Clockwork." Alex growled. Never breaking his stare with Toby.
"Alex. Put the gun down." I commanded. He lowered the gun, slowly turned around, and began walking away. I didn't think what happened then would've happened but it did and I couldn't do a thing about it. All of a sudden Alex turned around and fired the gun.
Everything happened in slow motion. The bullet sailed through the air, then it hit Toby. I heard a cry that I realized was mine. Toby hit the ground with a sickening thud. Without thinking I threw the duct tape ball at Alex, hitting him square in the forehead.
" Toby! Toby! Toby No!" Clockwork sobbed as we ran over to him. We each we at his sides. The bullet had hit him square in the chest, blood seeping out.
"Toby, wake up!" I lightly shook him. One of the lenses on his goggles had shattered. I hesitantly reached out my hand pushed them up into his hair. Toby's eyes opened. Both Clockwork and I put our hands over the wound to stop the bleeding.
" Am I dead?" He whispered. .
"I-i don't think s-so." I blinked away tears of relief that he was at least somewhat okay. But then something caught my attention that nearly made me scream. Toby wasn't twitching like he used to, "Toby, c-can you stand?"
"I think so." Again whispered. All he could do was move his right leg so it was bent against the ground.
" Toby I'm sorry this is all my fault I should've stopped him!" Clockwork sobbed. Toby moved his head towards her.
"Hey I'm th-the idiot that pissed off J-jane." Toby stammered. His whole body was shaking, "Guys, I'm sc-scared. What's it like dy- ing? For real?"
" Don't talk like that. You'll be fine. I'm going to go get help." I squeezed his hand before I took off down the hallway. As I left I thought I heard Toby gasp and Clockwork sob harder. I think that's when it happened. That's when Toby Rogers a.k.a Ticci Toby died. There was this pit in my stomach as I ran. When I found the others as they stepped through the rubble. Instantly they knew something was wrong. It was all over my face and I even had Toby's blood on my gloves from when I tried to stop the bleeding. I dragged Jeff the entire way back. But as you can guess, it was too late. I tried everything. It was no use. Toby was gone. I buried my face in Jeff's hoodie and sobbed. I cried into his shoulder for what seemed like ages. What had really set me off into crying was that he'd died with a smile on his face.
Why did it have to be Toby? Why couldn't it have been me? I was the one who wanted to come here to find the files! As I tried to stand my legs gave away. Then there was complete darkness.
